I have an old canon ixus60 6mp which goes everywhere with me. Great little camera to have in my pocket although it is getting long in the tooth now.

Sometimes, carrying a large DSLR is not practical, so I've always had smaller cameras, often ones that fit into a case on my belt. I still have a tiny Sony WX9, but I recently got a Sony A6000. The A6000 isn't going to fit into a belt case, but the controls and image quality are better.

I have the TZ70 (UK version), it is a great little camera, very compact and takes excellent images.

Have you thought of Panasonic ZS100 ?
1 inch MOS Sensor, EVF and very pocketable. I have used for over a year and great results. A very versatile camera.

For me when I want small I bring my wife’s Sony a6000 instead of my Nikon D500.

The Sony RX100 is perfect in any model - just decide what you need (hot shoe, view finder, all the models have a little something different ) I carry mine everywhere and it never disappoints in picture quality and speed. I even accidentally submerged mine in water on a New York vacation - and it survived !!! (thanks to Jerry)
I love trying different cameras - and I always come back to this one for my "carry everywhere point and shoot" - I tried the Lumix ZS100 a couple months ago and it was great but the picture quality was not as good as the RX100.

Canon G7X. 1.8/2.8. 24-100mm lens, full manual w/ click stop lens plus regular modes. 1" sensor and 20mp.

I use a Fujifilm f70 exr. It is pocketable, 10GB, and has a 10x Zoom. It does all kinds of tricks with the sensor so that you can get high ISO or extended dynamic range. Has limited manual controls .
Pictures are fantastic. Very close to my Panasonic G2.
Only downside is that there is no viewfinder. I and I'm looking into a sunscreen for it.

I carry a Sony DSC-WX350 when I don't want to carry something bigger; smaller than a phone (a little thicker though). Smaller sensor but also 20x zoom (optical). Also only a rear screen but there is a small and inexpensive add-on gadget you can get to make that work more effectively in bright light. I can't find the darn thing, but it has been mentioned in this forum so someone can direct you to it. I have not tried it but my brother swears by it, on a camera that he was otherwise going to abandon.
A camera this size and cost will always present compromise, but images seem very acceptable. I have not yet printed any and would be limited to smaller enlargements when I do (but not so small as to be useless to me).

I have the older model Panasonic Lumix ZS40. I do carry it with me most of the time in case I see something worth snapping. It may be a bit big and heavy for a shirt pocket. I can fit it in a (loose) pants front pocket or a cargo pocket. It's ok for snapshots in good light and when a longer zoom is needed. The low light performance is not very good. Unless the long zoom is important to you I'd go with the Sony RX100. That bigger sensor makes a huge difference in image quality, especially in low light. Also the Sony is lighter and smaller for your shirt pocket although a little heavier on your wallet pocket.

Today's pocket cameras, especially the Sony and Panasonic, are extremely easy to take anywhere, and take great photos with such small sensors. You can purchase them starting at about $125. Some are more expensive. Of course.
