That kind of CS is what I thought they would do for my software but, unfortunately, that was not the case. Somehow (do not know how) the problem seems to have fixed itself.
Did you contact them more than once with this issue? It's possible to get a bad rep, or even a good rep having a really bad day. One experience should not condemn an entire company. He/She is not necessarily They.

The day after my last contact, my software began to work. That had nothing to do with Corel. This morning, there was a message in my inbox from Corel telling me that I had duplicate tickets. They had attached a link that may help my problems. I didn't bother to click on it.
Thanks for the info. I was considering that software. One less to consider

I have used PSP for years, even pre-Corel. I have found that if you wait long enough, you can purchase the latest iteration of PSP for a fraction of what they first offer it for, e.g., $25 vs. $100+.
quick question, If I get subscription software can I run it on at least two machines? A laptop and a desktop or do I have to get two subscriptions?
Love that GIMP! It does require you to drill down a little deeper to get the most out of it but with a little effort it does quite well. With a good RAW processor (Raw Therapee or PhotoNinja) most all PP needs are met. That plus having recently brought out a beta 16 bit version makes it quite a nice package. Did I mention its free and has a huge base of folks who are continually upgrading it. also free? Not least one does not have all the fall-de-rall of dealing with marketing schemes that comes with paid software.

A few days ago my Corel Paintshop Pro X8 stopped working. I would click on the PSP icon and nothing would happen. I tried to import a photo into PSP and it would not work.
Finally, I contacted customer support at Corel. After I told them I had cleared my cache and browsing history, they gave me a link to help me with my problem. The link sent me to a page that guides you to update to version 2018. When I told that to customer support, they suggested that was the only way to fix my problem. 2018 is "more stable," according to the cs representative.
I became really frustrated. All they wanted was for me to pay them $80 to upgrade to the newest version of PSP. They were not interested at all in helping solve my problem.
BTW, last night, my PSP suddenly started working. Go figure!

I am running Paintshop Pro X8 version 18.2.0.61 x64 and have not had any problems.
I went with it mainly because I did not want a subscription product.
Meanwhile, when it starts, I get a popup asking me to upgrade.
I don't think so
I recently had a run in with Corel. In the past I had used Corel X2 and Corel X6 and have been very happy with them. I just made a purchase from Adorama that included Corel software. It had Corel X9 among other software. The Corel X9 would not complete installing. I contacted Corel and they convinced me that the solution was to upgrade to Corel 2018 which I did for $25. It didn't work either. They had me speak to someone else and he recommended deleting some files which worked. I installed the Corel 2018 and it was totally different than any Corel I had seen. It was very confusing for me so I deleted it. I could also now run the Corel 9 which is very much like the Corel 6. I asked for a refund of the $25 for the Corel 2018. They told me that I would have to deal with another company and jump thru hoops to get a refund. My words. It wasn't worth the time and hassle for me. I had all ready spent over 3 hours getting the Corel 9 working. The good news is that they got the Corel 9 working, the bad news is that they got $25 from me for something that I didn't want.
To the original poster - where did you buy your X8 (e.g., Best Buy, online from Corel, other)? I recently purchased X9 from Best Buy and could not load. I had needed Corel tech to remotely load. Turns out Corel canceled all brick and mortar (e.g., Best Buy) activation keys for all versions prior to 2018 (OOPS). I wonder if you may have been affected.
Best Buy if I recall.
I have the disks. One for PaintShop and a 2nd for their bonus disk.
I am used to vendors dropping support after a while.
I can live with that.
On the other hand, effectively crippling a product I already paid for would me me furious
if I learned I was not able to reinstall it for some reason.
I don't know full details, but suspect the pre-2018 removal of activation codes was an oversight on Corel's part. My X9 is working fine.

You can run it on as many machines as you like, but no more than two machines concurrently. If you try to sign in on a third machine, you'll be asked to sign out of one of the other machines.
My Corel X9 is working fine now. If it quits, I don't know if I can reinstall it.
