Photography has little to do with the discussions on this board. What is pertinent here is the perenial game of one upsmanship over who's got the best gear and who can find flaws in another's photos with an electron miscroscope.

I get it now. Your needs from this hobby and mine differ. I've got the wildest machine that a retired IBM MCSE never could have imagined possible, but there will always be someone else with a better box and theoretical arguments against why my equipment deviates from the accepted norm that the gutless sheep subscribe to.

We're all doing just fine here. Let the flames begin! Just for General info, and to cut down on the PM traffic, Tarkus was the second general album release from Emerson, Lake, and Palmer. Anyone that didn't get that didn't need to ask the question.
Photography has little to do with the discussions ... (show quote)

Who gives a rats behind who has the better equipment, to me it's all about the photo you display, if you like it, you win, remember its not the camera who sees the picture, its a tool to help you display what you see!!. Next problem

I just can't understand why, with all of that great equipment you claim to have, you have not posted a single photo.

All great equipment as superior as they may be still need someone who knows how to operate them to produce a picture.

Hey there Molly !!!

Hey back! A couple of days ago this guy had a Sony p&s, and there is nothing wrong with that camera. But, I guess he saw photos of what the 'heavy phallic symbol stuff' is capable of doing and decided to join the crowd. I still would like to see photos-if you can't back up what you say, don't say it!!!

I'm not sure what the issue is, unless a person has a chip on their shoulder to begin with. When I'm on here, I generally expect that most probably have a better camera than me (certainly newer), but there are a few that don't. I've never tried to suggest to anyone that I'm better because I have a better camera, and I certainly haven't suggested that anyone that has a better camera than mine means that they're a better photographer. It is what it is. Some day, I'll have better equipment, but for now, I work with what I have, and with most people that don't have as good as I do, I give them the same advise; learn the principles of photography, and then get the most you can out of the equipment that you have.

Honestly, I don't recall any posts by Tarkus. I think I would've remembered the name, but I'll go back and check. Maybe it was in threads that I just didn't read.

Do go back and check. He started a stink a couple of days ago. Also, once he starts a thread he has NEVER gone back and responded on it.

Are any of you fans of the Original Star Trek? Remember the episode where a life form invaded the ship and fed on anger, hostility, and rage? The crew finally defeated it by getting their emotions in check, and literally laughed the creature off the ship.

This guy is a troll and feeds on all these responses. In a way it's a lot like some here on the political discussions whose specialties are invectives and vitriol. They don't discuss, they 'stir'. And it's the venom and the exchange of insults that serve as food for their egos. If we would leave his ridiculous treads totally empty, I think he'd just wither up and disappear.

The Star Trek episode that he reminds me of is the one with the kids before puberty on a planet that were healthy, yet all the parents died, but soon as they go through puberty they get this disease. Maybe it's just the change, young or old??

The only thing I've read come out of you is judgmental BS. Why are you so fixated on the negative aspects of this forum? I bet you sit there reading every thread and then spend hours thinking up big words and complicated phrases so you can seem like some photo guru or some kind of philosophic professor. You come across as an A$$. If you don't like the forum, leave. I'm hoping everyone will stop replying to your threads, as this will be the last one I reply to, because all you seem to want to do is stir up the pot. It's really pathetic.
