Royce ... that's good to know you had a good experience with Cameta ... where are they, by the way?

I also have the D7100 - it was my last camera purchase (about 2015) from B&H ... like it a lot, but, due to the increased weight, now I've gotten older - I prefer my much lighter D5500 ... with a touch-screen.

It's certainly nice to find out you can get a year's warranty free on refurbished lenses ... good deal!!!!

They are on Long Island, but closer to you at www.cameta.com. I purchased my refurb D7100 from them four years ago and as previously mentioned it was with all manuals, accessories and software that would come with, and was indistinguishable from new.

I would suggest updating your email notifications to only private messages. You don't need a notification on all topics. Seriously, you don't. Just use your Watched Topics link at the top of all UHH pages. You'll receive a notice there, when signed onto the site, if any updates exist.

My comment was aimed directly at ChrisT.

I don't have a problem with the frequency of my notifications.

But he appears to crave attention.

Valid to who? Unless you just enjoy seeing your inbox fill up with email notifications that "there has been a new reply posted"?

Next time before you post nonsensical questions to the forum, use the "Search" option at the top of every page.

It's amazing how many times questions are asked time and time again!

Also, your insistence of not using the "Quote Reply" button is NOT how it's done on this forum.

Szalajj ... just because YOU think they're nonsensical, it doesn't mean EVERYONE else does ... get a dictionary!

I had no idea they were so close ... thanks, Madman ...

BTW - I got my D7100 from B&H - in 2015 ...

Using a credit they issued me the year before after I sent them back the smelly K-3 they sent me ....

What's the best way to go?

When you buy new, you get a manual, all the parts, and a warranty ...

When you buy refurbished, you save a bit, but is it worth the savings, to lose out on the other?

When you buy used ... you get ZILCH extra, and - perhaps, only, a 30-day return policy ...

Does that make up for the smelly trash they might have sent you?

I have purchased four factory refurbished cameras from Cameta Camera. Each came with all the accessories including a manual, a 90 day Nikon warranty and a one-year warranty from Cameta. Every one worked perfectly, low shutter counts, excellent visual condition. Essentially like new. But note, the "factory refurbished" designation. I have purchased from another vendor, refurbished equipment. Turned out to have been poorly refurbished by a third-party contractor. Other vendors like Adorama, etc. may not have the long warranty but if it says Nikon factory refurbished, you should be okay (I have also purchased one Nikon factory refurb from Adorama and it was perfect, though without the one year warranty.)

And, the one-year warranty on Refurbs doesn't cost you anything extra, then, Royce?

No the warranty does not cost anything. I get most all my gear refurbished and new from Cameta. I don't buy used stuff unless I can try it out myself. Bought a used Nikon 200mm on Ebay that was advertised as good condition and the damn thing does not even work. Learned my lesson.

Good, Royce ... glad to hear that, and thanks for sharing your e-bay experience with us ...

It's a good lesson to all who read this ....

I purchased my two current cameras used-like-new, a Pentax Q-7 via Amazon and a Pentax K-30 from KEH. Both were exactly as claimed, and no problems {2+ years later} so far {knock on wood!!}

I never buy any thing when it first comes out. the last camera body I bought was a K5ii, it cost 1200$ body only when it was released, I bought it at the end of it's model run brand new from B&H for around 700$.
The Canon printer I use is a Pixma Pro 9000MKii, it was a 500$ printer, I bought it at the end of the Model run for 150$, there was a sale price and a mail in rebate.
