I'm surprised that no one mentioned Cave of the Winds. Also, if history is your thing, go about 90 minutes EAST of Pueblo on highway 50 to LaJunta where you will find Bents Old Fort. There is also a former interment camp and dinosaur tracks in that area as well.
My brother goes to Bent's Fort at least once a year and loves the people who run the place. I have never personally been but he recommends it highly.

Hello to All
We will be taking a trip to Colorado Springs & Pueblo Colorado in a couple of weeks.
Looking for suggestions on things or places to photograph. One point of interest is Landscapes especially
with Waterfalls, Sunrises, and Sunsets.
Looking for shots in the towns and hiking opportunities... or road trips. We will be there about a week.
Thanks in advance for your help and suggestions.
Take extra money. Nothing in Colorado is free they even charge to view a waterfall. I guess Garden of the Gods is free. Everything else they want to charge you for.

With respect I have found that most of Western Colorado from the Front Range to the West is simply one beautiful state to photograph. Most of those viewpoints are free. I have lived in Washington State, Sequim. I paid for some things there too but the natural beauty was pretty much free.

Yes Paul, please stay away. We don't need another bad attitude, have enough in Boulder. Washington is a good place for you to kick some dogs, but maybe they will fight back.

I am not the one with the poor attitude. You guys are. I try to help a guy out so he can enjoy your state and you attack. I am not the one that is charging for everything. No I should not have to pay to see a waterfall. I bet you guys stay away and do not pay those fees. You should go and divvy up and pay a little extra. I was in Colorado Springs and made a comment to one of your own citizens and he said yes everything is a charge except Garden of the Gods. You guys do not have monopoly on beauty. BTW what does Washington have to do with this?

Shack!!
I went there in 1974 - - you could crawl all over EVERYTHING back then.
During our recent 2016 visit, safety and conservation had put lots of touchy-feely stuff off-limits, BUT -
What had been reconstructed was Fabulous !! Well worth the visit AND the tours !!

USAF Academy....go to the chapel and area.
The Chapel is scheduled for remodeling soon. Might check before you plan a visit. Google could probably help with what is available to view and when. The Academy is an active military base and recent security measures have changed visitor's protocol.

IOBPhoto best time of year to come to Colorado. If you plan on going to Cripple Creek/Victor
checkout phantom canyon road. I would start at the lower end, US50 - and rd67 which is about 5 miles
east of canon city. Phanton canyon road is a old railroad route to Victor. This is a 44 mile trip to Victor and
gains 5,000ft in elevation. You are following a stream most of the trip and can pull over to the side almost anywhere.
For a real adventure come back the shelf road, Cripple Creek to Canon City. Old stagecoach route which is
one lane. For road trips try the small county roads in the foothills or mountains. Being off the main highways
gives you time to pull over whenever you want. Good luck on your trip. I'm just west of Pueblo and the smoke
haze has been clearing since Monday.
No problem visiting the USAF Chapel. Repairs to the Chapel will start next year and entering the north gate of the Base is not difficult. Just carry some ID. Enjoy.
