There have been a ton of responses to my orig post and my thanks to all. It seems we all have the same opinion on this topic. It is difficult to understand how they remain viable enterprises. I guess enough folks fall prey to keep 'em rolling along. Cheers!

I get plenty. I just lay the phone down till it makes that sound when you leave the phone off and forget to hang it up.

Thats all well and good, however, my wife and I keep getting robocalls and a recorded message telling us we stayed at one of their resorts and if we remain on the line a live person will come on to advise us of the reward, OR, there is an issue with our account, just stay on the line so they they can have an operator assist us in clearing it up.

Usually it hits my wife's number, then within 5 minute it hits my cell number. Heather sounds like a very nice girl, but she is lying when she says we stayed at one of their resorts or booked a cruise recently with them. :D

They also get tricky with changing the number reportedly dialed from, so it is a local area code and a different number each time, so more difficult to ID/block.

Any suggestion?

Heather's Great! She can extend my warranty on my 1994 Econoline van and she says she can reduce the interest on my credit card. She is actually the one way that I know that my phone is still working because no one else ever calls me : (

I took one of the auto warranty calls once, describing my one y/o veh as having abt 350k miles. The "salesman" insisted he could provide new veh coverage. Wow! What a deal. Unfortunately I ultimately had to decline the deal.

I also get those calls. I have two defenses: answer it, and put the phone down - it wastes their time and helps prevent the calling others. and: I will occasionally wait for or encourage the human voice, and quickly ask "what's your name and company?" It will usually shock them into responding, and if they do I'll ask for the real phone number (since most of them seem to be usually using a "spoof" number, now). Then I politely thank the responder by name, and tell them that since I am on the "Do Not Call" list, I will relay that info to the FCC of FTC, whoever it is. Almost never get a call about my warranty or free luxury resort stay again.

There is a class action lawsuit regarding the free cruise robocalls

I followed up on it and you put in your phone # and it will tell you if it is eligible to join the suit. My land line wasn't, cell phone was. Can get from $300.00 to #900.00 depending on the number of calls.

Here is the heading of the lawsuit

IN THE UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURT FOR THE NORTHERN DISTRICT OF ILLINOIS EASTERN DIVISION

Philip Charvat on behalf of himself ) and others similarly situated, ) ) Plaintiff, ) Case No. 1:12-cv-05746 ) v. ) Judge Wood ) Mag. Judge Rowland Elizabeth Valente, Resort Marketing Group, Inc., ) Carnival Corporation & PLC, ) Royal Caribbean Cruises, Ltd., NCL (Bahamas) Ltd., ) ) Defendants. )

A federal court authorized this Notice. It is not a solicitation from a lawyer.

Won't cost much to find out if you qualify.

I don't answer a call unless I recognize the caller. These skanks never leave a message and I google the # and usually find others get the same. I then block them on my iphone and that will block a lot of fake #'s.

My husband and I use to pick up the phone just to disconnect or in his case to bellow at them. Recently I read that the best thing was to ignore. When you pick up a connection is actually made and they can use your number and you might just receive a huge phone bill. If you have caller ID, the numbers in the 200 and 300 are Caribbean numbers and many scams are out of those areas. They want you to stay on as it enables the scam.

Recently on my home phones I have received calls from 92-003-1174, 53-227-5256 and 25-642-7285 and of course I didn't answer and no message was left. I have never seen area codes of 92, 53 and 25 and obviously they don't exist. Anyone get any of these?

You asked, "Any suggen?" I think you meant suggestions, so here's one; flush the phone.

I get my landline from Sonic.net. It turns out that it is already available, I just have to turn it on. Go Sonic.

I'm sure I am not alone as one who is inundated with the nuisance robocalls. I am on the verge of declaring victory over theses scumbags. About a week ago I became "Big Joe's Fishbait and BBQ Emporium" in answering these easily id'd calls. The phone rings, I pick it up and answer using that phrase, and ad, "if younwant bbq, that takes a little longer, 'cause I have to wash up the fishbait befo I make the Q." Click. I guess my caller is uninterested in bbq or fishbait!!!

My way of handling them is to say just a minute, set the phone down not on the hook and walk away. And after a few minutes they have given up. It is nice to hear them say, is there anyone there?
