You know, after watching today on the History Channel, the history of The Revolution, and being reminded of what our Founding Fathers sacrificed for our great nation, to see it torn to shreds, bit by bit, makes me sick to my stomach. Both literally and physically. If the nation does not wake up in November and begin to replace what has become the powers that be, we shall surely be gone.

Sub tenders. I hope you were in the lush south pacific.

No. Actually we were in the Holy Lock in Scotland. The sun actually came out once or twice during the 2 years I was there and the temperature shot up to nearly 68F ! I was thinking about it today and the thought came to me that we probably had several dozen Russian ICBM's aimed at us all the time. Thanks for the thoughts for Sean my grandson.

Keep a stiff upper lip. Every thing will be fine when Obama starts a second term. My worry is if the Republicans win, they will find a another war to start to help support all the fat cat defense contrators that they are being funded by.

You are correct about Switzerland's health care system. But let's not let facts like that get in the way.

Spodeworld wrote:
Switzerland had a similar healthcare structure to what the US has now, with all the attendant problems. In about 1990 they instituted reforms not unlike Obamacare. There were all kinds of dire predictions about how the quality of care would collapse and prices would escalate. None of this happened. Their healthcare system emerged in much better shape and is functioning quite well now and everyone participates. All this was implemented by a conservative Prime Minister.

ACA was passed by a lawfully elected Congress and the law upheld by the highest court in the land. Sure it needs some fixing but we're on our way. So please let's go forward and not spend the next 4-years trying to tear it down.

How can this be universal health care when members of Congress are not part of it? Ladies and Gentlemen we now have people are not part of the people but rather Lords and Ladies looking down on us. On July 4, 1776 we broke away from this! Congress members are not accountable to the laws they pass! Get your children to READ and talk. Congress has their own health care program that YOU pay for NOT them. Also, what government arm is going to be setup and hire how many people to inforce this! At what cost! Who is going to pay the bill? You Are. Why are we going to pay for illegals who have come here for their health care! Also, expresdents and their family are not covered by this. You also pay for their care through your taxes!

I really approve of the bill and the advantages it is going to bring to the American people. But PLEASE let's give credit where credit is due --- it isn't Obamacare. It is Romenycare. Hard to swallow for Republicans, I know, but that's the truth. Romneycare ! Long live Romneycare !

I agree with everything you have posted on this thread. I don't care what you call it. Call it Hillery or Kennedy care. Rommneycare if you like. What matters America has been trying to get Universal Health Care passed since the 1940's. Now it's done or maybe (just begun).

I wonder what these critics of Romneycare would say if their own children left college, went out on their own, decided not to have health insurance, and then acquired a severe illness that necessitated a few hundred thousand dollars worth of treatment. I bet there would be a lot of regrets coupled with a quick conversion to Romneycare.

I work for the mayor of my town. He owns a gass station and small super market. Many of our customers are poor and can't afford medical insurance. Because of the republican hype about this bill many poor customers are not in favor of Obamacare. That's how pervasive the miss-information has been about this bill. After reading the responses on this thread I'm starting to think I am preaching to choir however.

You are not entirely preaching to the choir here. There are several vociferous Yahoos who have swallowed the Republican line completely. They don't seem to be present right now. Probably off pressing their sheets and polishing their crosses. Or perhaps they're designing a new Tea Party outfit for the next rally on the village green.

Congress is part of it. Just like anyone else whose employer provides health insurance you get to use it if it is offered. For them, just like for those of us who are lucky enough to be in the employ of an organization with health insurance benefits, it is an existing offering.

Amid John Roberts' craven surrender to "the political branches" on Obamacare -- a bizarre capitulation, at that, since Roberts honored a statute that he hallucinated, but neither Congress nor the president authored nor authorized -- Americans should remember just how many rules, standards, and traditions had to be twisted or bulldozed in order for the [un]Affordable Care Act to become law.

For Obamacare to be enacted in the first place required each of more than a dozen, highly unlikely or even suspect, occurrences or actions. It then took some serious constitutional hocus pocus for it to survive in court. Consider the awful litany:...http://spectator.org/archives/2012/07/03/obamacares-hideous-history-rec

How will you spend your REFUND?:)

in fact, under the law many people and employers will be getting checks back based on whether or there were claims against the coverage.

How many years have you paid car insurance premiums and not filed a claim? Wouldn't it be nice to have some of that money back?

Well that's exactly what the new law does. Under the provisions in ACA the HEALTH insurance carriers by law are required to return up to 80% of the unused premium by August 1 of each year. The remaining 20% is theirs.

Here's an example (the figures are just used as an example and do not represent any limits or averages.) So in simple terms if you or employer pays $2400 per year to insure your bag of bones and no claims have been made or the amount of coverage used is less than your total paid premium, 80% of the remainder of the premium (in this example up to $1920) will be returned to payer or credited against the future premium. If you employer requires you to pay for a portion of that premium they must either refund the money to you or credit it against the future premium. For group coverage the fewer the claims, the less the group's premium, the lower the cost to insure the group.

Who doesn't like money back?

Congress and their families are not covered by this! Read the hr in total. Then becomes familiar with the house rules book. Members of congress and their spouses can make use of medical services of the government at no cost to them just you. When serving as a member of congress you can not be arrested. Any law passed during your tenture you are not held to that standard.
