I have used several lenses with my D610. I like the Nikon 28mm f2.8 AIS manual focus for landscapes, the Nikon 60mm f2.8 for general purpose use and occasional macro, the Tokina 100mm f2.8 macro lens, and the Nikon 70-210mm f4 (f4 at all zoom lengths). The Nikon 200mm f4 prime manual focus produces great microcontrast and colors. All these lenses were bought used.

My "leave it on most the time" lens on my D610 is the AF Nikkor 28-200 f/3.5-5.6 G. I have a whole series of Nikon primes from 20mm to 135mm that I use when they work for the chosen subject. chase

About two years ago I went from a D90 to the D610. It came with...dare I say it a "kit" lens. A 28-300MM. I have taken it on vacations and family events and have had no problem with the dreaded kit lens. Neither have friends or family. It all boils down to patience when taking pictures. Then again my audience are not pompous asses.

When I retired, my retirement gift to myself was a D610. I bought a 50mm lens to begin learning how to use the FF camera [I already had a 3200] but got tired of being unable to "zoom" to things far away. So I recently got a Tamron 70-300 lens. Very happy with it, but it looks like an anti-tank weapon when mounted and with its lens hood. Not exactly light either.

I use DSLR/SLR because it's easy to change lenses. I prefer prime lenses because they are sharper and lighter. I use a set of 1.8 lenses: 24, 35, 50 and 85mm - all Nikon except for the 35mm Tamron. My favorites are the 35 and 50.

The only time I would use a zoom lens is above the 150mm level where the extra weight and size are unavoidable. Even then I keep the zoom range below 4:1.

Bought mine refurbished this year from Cameta. Usually, have a wide to normal lens on it. I use a DX format body (D7100) with my Teles & macro lenses...

When I had one, the 28-300mm was my always-on lens. Now that lens is on my D750.

the 70-200 lives on my d610. Occasionally the 24-85 goes on there. It totally depends on what you shoot.

I use this same lens on my D610 and am very satisfied with the results I get with it.
