That's the beauty of a superzoom - they don't run away as much.
Well another good reason to go to Grove Park Inn is the barbeque meatloaf sandwich!

I used to work in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, a very strict Muslim city with very paranoid people and officials for those who are not familiar with it. I have been warned about not taking pictures in public but one day I was away with the fairies and went shooting in the city centre, right where they do the public executions. We call it the 'chop, chop' square. There I was, happily shooting away at everything when this wizen old man started screaming at me which attracted the policeman closeby. I suddenly had visions of my hands being chopped off for that morning's crowd's entertainment! Thankfully, I was sensible enough to stay calm, denied understanding their language and what they were saying, pleaded ignorance about not taking photos in public and eventually got away with losing the rolls of film I had in my bag - used and unused. I never did that again which was such a pity as the city had such interesting old and modern architecture.
By the way, I was working in the Riyadh Military Hospital at the time of the first Gulf War and met some marvelous American Reserves. Interesting times.
Did anyone watch the recent Tour de France Cycling stage where a bystander photographer stood too far out on to the road to take photos and caused a pile up? Gives photographers a bad name and need his legs chopped off (only joking).

What is the craziest/silliest thing you have done to get a photograph? I am not really talking hanging off a skyscraper with bungee cord, but waking up at 3 am and traveling x number miles to take the photo and return. Just wondering!!!!
More years ago than I care to remember, I talked my best friend into coming with me to a mall late at night when it was way past closing time. I set up my SRT-102 on a tripod, set the shutter to Bulb & we proceeded to run around the parking lot with flashlights covered with different colored cellophane films. We were still light painting when the police showed up; REAL interesting conversation.
More recently, I ran out into the middle of the Smithfield street bridge on a Friday night in January and laid on the I-beam divider to get shots of the cables overhead. I know this doesn't sound like that big of a deal but Smithfield links Pittsburgh city proper to Station Square which is a weekend hotspot (Hard Rock Cafe, etc). On a Friday night the bridge is fairly busy. Laying on my back wasn't that bad. It was dodging the cars & 18 wheelers to climb over the guard rails carrying all that gear that made it memorable.

Its not what I did but what happened to me. It was one of my first weddings. Every thing went just fine the whole day. Then later that night when I Bent down to take the garder shot I heard this rrrrip. My paints split from stem to stearn. Everyone behind me got a good lafe. I spent the rest of the night with my jacket sleves tied around my wast. I never went out again without a sewing kit in my camera case.
