I just checked the official Darwin Award website for 2017 winners. One of the awards went to someone who accidentally shot his privates off. He did not die.
Perhaps it qualified for the Darwin Award, because he was longer able to procreate. His gene pool ended that day.
Yeah the one who shot his private off, may not be able to pass on his shall I say his stupid genes. I guess we all have done less than smart mistakes and live to tell about it.

What? Me make mistakes? The very horror of the thought! LOL Ha, ha, actually, I call them my dunderhead moments. A neuropsychologist once told me that IQ is an average. Sometimes we're smarter than our IQ, other times, not as smart. Explains a lot.
I think they were trying to win the Darwin Award, but they couldn't even do that right.
Robert Heinlein, in Lazarus Long, "The Lives of Lazarus Long" explained it this way;
Stupidity cannot be cured with money, nor through
education, nor by legislation. Stupidity is not a sin,
the victim can't help being stupid. But stupidity is the
only universal capital crime; the sentence is death,
there is no appeal, and execution is carried out
automatically and without pity.
They are very lucky to have survived that. Propane and butane are heavier than air gases and fill up spaces on cars ,trailers(Caravans) and boats and explode with tremendous force.
Actual true story. Police were called a residence by a mother who said her son was intoxicated, and tearing up the house, it was before noon. When police arrived the mother was outside of the house and said that her son had chased her from the house, and locked her out of the house. She had neighbors call police. The family frequently called police because of disputes with family and neighbors. When police responded the mother was outside of the home. A daughter comes to the house with a key police talked to the drunk son, when the police unlocked the door off the carport, the son emerged ran from the house into the back yard, and then around to the carport holding a concrete cinder block he held over his head, "Shouting if you don't leave I am going to drop this on my head, duh. While he was distracted, an officer was able to wrestle the son to the ground. The son arrested not only to prevent further incidents, but so he could sober up.
Of some were thinking left him drop it, at least he may have had a partial reminder or what happened, so the next time he decided to get drunk tear up the house, push his mother out of the door, have his sister leave work, abuse police and fire services that light bulb might go off in his head "Don't to this, Don't do this". Sadly the family had been a victim of so many incidents, battery, damaged furniture etc.
