If you are a professional you almost certainly enjoy collecting your check and depositing it in the bank.

Is that it?

Do you ever go back and look at your creations just for the pleasure of seeing them? Do you have a batch of favorites that you 'visit' because you are proud of them and they make you feel good or just to re-live old memories? How do you display them - framed on the wall? slide show on your computer? album or photo book? Facebook?

I do look at many of my images that I especially like. Though I am fussy and don't really like most of them. But with a few of the best ones I

a. Frame and View On the Wall.

b. Have 11x14", often false matted prints in a number of 11x14" Portfolio cases, at least the more recent ones since 2011.

c. Occasionally I do go back and look at specific photographs in their folders or locations on my HDD's.

d. I have many photos on FaceBook but these are not necessarily my best but images my friends might want to see. Also I tend not to "publish" any of my photos from Classes I have taken or and images that may have commercial value.

e. I have slowly been working on a Best Of collection to burn to CD-ROM / DVD-ROM and be able to view and give copies to friends. This should really be cool when done and enable me to show my photos to friends and family that are far away, or don't use social media.

Note, the same image may be in / used in more than one of these ways above. Also occasionally I will reprocess and make an entire new version of an image. Say after learning a new technique or Tool in Photoshop. Or I just have a new, or Topaz or Nik filter idea. I now wish I had not shot my earliest digital images in JPEG. Though most of those were good enough to still be re-workable. I have not gone through my old Film negatives and prints to look for ones worth scanning. Only a few so far of absolute favorites or a few I happened to think of scanning. Many of those are old family photos, not so much art.

I know, I can put "junk" on FaceBook and everyone is hitting LIKE. At least a have a few honest photographer friends who will critique it or give it a thumbs down when deserved.

I agree with Bob. I use a combination of electronic frames and smaller wifi enabled smart tv's around my home.

I hang them on the walls, give has gifts, have them printed to make albums. Also do slide shows on my computer with music and copy and send them to my TV so that I can watch on a big screen. Let them play when I have friends over for drinks and just let the slide show go on continuous loop so if I am having a boring party they can occupy there time . Also send some online to relatives.

I have similar thoughts. I put a couple on the wall and put the best in an archival file that I use on my own computer, as screen savers. I do look back, mostly to think about where to go next and what to do better, but that is about it. I liken it to "catch and release fishing".

I post pic's on Facebook for friends and family to see. Especially if it's from a family event. It's not the best ones but it's the ines the appreciate.

When people like photos of food and cute cats you know they don't care much about photography. They don't understand to appreciate the art in photography.

Example
One man in the family has had DSLRs for ages. Today he has a D3400. So I thought we shared interest. Boy, was I wrong! He uses it as an iPhone taking snapshots. Every picture he takes is shot in auto. Always! He has no understanding of the art of photography. Nor does anyone else among friends or family, except my mother and brother back home in Sweden. They understand.

My favorites shots are on Instagram. My top notch ones are on 500px. From the ones on 500px I'm selecting a few to print for my walls at home. So far I haven't printed any yet but will in a month or two as my collection is growing.

I never upload pictures for judgement on FB sites. I don't have that kind of need to pamper my ego. (My ego is big enough as it is...)

I really enjoy looking at some of my pictures and having them printed for the walls is the next step for my recently restarted hobby.

I'm proud of what I can do with my camera. I enjoy looking at the pictures. Truthfully, my favorite ones makes me happy at heart!

I am thoroughly enjoying reading these posts, especially the "with a cool refreshing beverage" (Thank you Big Bang Theory). For me(us) I search for those I want to print, frame, and display on the walls. On one long staircase, I have 14 8x10 behind glass in "frameless frames", and each is of a different country we've visited. Every time we use the steps, we're reminded of the beauty of the country. But my greatest favorite is large canvas wrap. In the bedroom, is a 6' x 4' canvas wrap of Neptune's Fountain in Florence, and a 4' x 3' of the pyramids in Egypt. Very timely is this question asked, for just yesterday, my favorite canvas printing company delivered another 6' (wide) by 4' (tall) of the Spanish Steps in Rome. Like so many of you, I (a) enjoy taking the photographs, then (b) processing them in my computer, and finally (c) printing them at home in my Canon Pixma Pro9500 Mark II and framing, or having Nova Color (here in St. Louis) print them on canvas. Seeing the picture continue around the edges is magnetic. Repleo, thanks for asking.

For photos taken on trips (motor tours in US and Europe; river boats rides and Oceania cruises), I create photo books and we do review them from time to time. Otherwise, my images sit in computer files that I occasionally scroll through to find undiscovered gems (good luck). I do print up to 12x15 or so and frame some iconic photos (postcard shots) that friends/family assume were purchased (e.g., Portland, ME lighthouse shot from a whale tour). I am limited in what I can hang since my wife is an artist and her acrylics/watercolors are more interesting (i.e., better art) than my photos.

I try to shoot something new everyday, although a week may go by, and share them on Facebook with my friends and family. Except for occasional pictures of family, I use FB as my photo blog for what's going on in my area. Like a feature photographer for a publication. These may be birds, flowers blooming, river flooding, landscapes, field days, town festivals, car shows, etc. Whatever new is going on. I don't do politics or controversy. My best pictures I put on my Zenfolio site which I use as my personal gallery. I don't use Zenfolio's sales program, but if someone wants one of my pictures they can email me and I'll work with them.

I post many on my smugmug site. I enter (and win a few) photo contests. there are approximately 400 photos (most are of my granddaughter) on my basement walls and many are displayed throughout our house. I enjoy just sitting and looking at photos I have taken throughout the years. Many of my friends have some of my photos displayed in their house too. I love taking photos and I really enjoy looking at them, at least the good ones.

Facebook only. The majority of my Facebook friends are from the Philadelphia area-and my primary photography area is Center City Philadelphia. Many of those Facebook friends seem to appreciate seeing the many aspects of their home city, particularly if they are now ex-pats. It feeds their nostalgia thirst.

I accumulate 4 rolls of film and then I devote a couple of hours to developing and drying them and putting them in sleeves. Then I make a contact sheet of each and then start deciding what to print.

Family stuff gets printed 4x6 or 3.5x5 and goes in the family album or shoebox, others get printed and put on my office wall for a couple of weeks until the next batch replaces them.

Sometimes I give some away if other friends are in the photos.

Sometimes I go back and look at a contact sheet and decide to print another negative that I wasn't thrilled with the first time through.
