I wonder how he could have three editions, let alone four. Has something changed in the exposure triangle? I got mine in 2012, so I supposed everything has changed since then.
Maybe they are having a debate on going back to ASA, or maybe even DIN
Hi there free download and/or read online both want credit information and a posted card even as it states they are free to browse and view.
I am always cautious of links like that. yes it has three and four and says reviwe them free but how free is it when they are demmending a credit card??
Any way as I have said in the early post. The main thing he changed is that he doesn't use the term "Exposure Triangle" any more but using "Photography Triangle" in his 4th edition.

I have the third edition of Bryan Peterson's "Understanding Exposure". Does the fourth edition have enough additional info to merit buying it?
Age writes a little more info for flash photography

The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd editions all cover what you need to know to expose your photos properly.

Having the Fourth edition I will say the book is a wealth of information for us newbies and hobbyists just getting started. The third edition is minus the Flash chapters, which, most of the information can be gleaned from YouTube videos on the net. The third edition is probably all you need.

Either find the Library they donated their 3rd editions to or go e-book..............
My remark will probably be labeled heresy, but here goes anyway. Once one has grasped the triangle of shutter speed-fstop-ISO, rest is just the arithmatic of corresponding ratios. What is important is composition, how light and shadows fall in a scene can not be reduced to a formula.
The book doesn't teach how to determine exposure.

Did he change the laws of physics, too?

In fact he talked very little about physics so he really can't change them. I think the reason he changed the terms because so many people including myself said that ISO isn't exposure so the term "Exposure Triangle" is flawed. But that aside I do find his book doesn't teach on how to actually determine exposure. He emphasized on how to choose between the combinations that yield the same exposure. The total amount of how one goes about determining exposure is about a couple of pages in the whole book. He avoided the difficult part of exposure.
The 4th ed is available on GoogleBooks $15.99
Some years ago and tired of the so many books I have read about exposure I bought a book by an unknown author, Bahman Farzad, a freelance photographer and professor of photography at the University of Alabama.
Curious about the book because of my interest in exposure I decided to buy it. I did not regret that step and I sincerely believe the book reinforced my knowledge about exposure. The tile is a long one "The Confused Photographer's Guide to Photographic Exposure and the Simplified Zone System."
The book is clearly written, easy to understand and indeed made me a better student of the photographic exposure. In only 72 hours after I began to read the book I had a much better understanding of how meters work and how to use them for better exposures.
This book is highly recommended by me for those who are interested in getting better exposures from their cameras.
I finally read this book, more out of curiosity. Lots of instruction regarding knob twiddling, but he never touched on the foundation of exposure.
