CF memory cards are on the way out.
I think CF cards are far superior to SD cards. I have had two cameras ship with SD cards. I think I threw them away. I have no idea where they are.
I have a bunch of CF cards, many in 1GB and 2GB because my Sigma SD10 used that size. Then I have some in 8GB and 16GB I got for my Sigma SD14 and of course I now use 32GB cards with my 7DII. I have plenty of cards and two pocket hard cases for them so have not bothered to get any bigger capacity cards.
Thanks to those who posted the links to the SD>CF adapters. I had intended to get one or two but had forgotten about it. I ordered two just now.
So as long as I have a bunch of SD cards (we carry a lot) my wife loves shooting video with her SX-50 and Panasonic Camcorder. I can either give them to her for videos (she goes through a lot) or pop them in my 7DII with the adapter if I should somehow fill up my case of CF cards. (aprx 10,000 frames!!!! Yikes! but I guess it is possible, esp on a multi day trip/event) Yeah I know a Pro can do that at sporting events or doing BIF but I think my shutter finger would fall off if I did that.
I guess I better stock up. Thanks for the post.

That's great. I have an old, beautiful Blaupunkt console radio from 1962 with AM, FM and shortwave bands. The FM even supports stereo hi-fi and the full, deep, wonderful sound that comes out of those vacuum tubes is even more pleasing than my top-of-the-line Yamaha system.
I also had to replace a tube about 20 years ago, which I was able to find at Radio Shack, but I've been fearful that if another tube went, I would just be out of luck. Glad to learn that probably won't be the case.

I'm having problem with one of my Kingston CF card and I called support. He told me that they have quit making CF cards and assume that is true of all makers.
You may want to stock up now before they are history.
Unlikely. B&H sells five different brands.
I have had problems with Kingston cards and stopped using them.

Not according to the purists!
Well, even Universal Audio makes plugins replicating the sound of their own classic 1176LN, Teletronix LA-2A, 610 Preamp... as does Waves. My old ears don't hear any significant differences.

Imagine a Vacuum Tube computer trying to run Windows 10, it would fill many football stadiums!
Imagine ANY computer trying to run Windows 10.

I have old Kingston 2 GB cards that I still use. Shooting projects I like being able to shoot separate cards for each one.
Less chance of losing images all recorded together on large capacity cards. If another card works fine in your camera then most likely the pins are in tact and OK. Lexar has a service for extracting images from failing cards I hear, but I have never had a problem with any brand of card since 2005.
I do have a big problem with Extreme 95MB Sandisk cards reading in a MAC. They have not kept up with new MAC technology and changes. I cannot import anything into Lightroom shot with my Drone. The Sony card that comes with the Drone--no problems.

Never heard of that problem. I use those cards all the time but limited to 32 GB.

All cards will eventually go obsolete, its just a matter of time. The future is Bluetooth/Wifi or similar between camera and viewing/processing device.
And by what method do Bluetooth and wifi store images in the camera?

Where do you get that, film is dead? Nothing could be further from the truth!
It was sarcasm, ergo the wink. I was referencing "CF Cards are dead" to "film is dead"... neither is true....

I saw the sarcasm immediately :)

Sarcasm, ergo the wink. Point was to compare the CF is dead to the film is dead..... neither is true.
