I'm having problem with one of my Kingston CF card and I called support. He told me that they have quit making CF cards and assume that is true of all makers.
You may want to stock up now before they are history.

I think they have been history for some time now. We gave up on them several years ago.

Manufacturers will make money converting cameras to SD or XQD.

All Lexar memory cards are being discontinued by the parent company. Some others are cutting production of the older models of cards because the new versions are backwards compatible in most cases.
Besides with the number of companies that make them someone will still have even the older ones available. I SanDisk brand.
There are so many cameras that use them and there fore a market that someone will fill it.

Even when there comes a point when CF cards are no longer manufactured, I'm sure you will be able to order old stock for many years to come. Not long ago I needed an electron tube that had been out of production since 1957; after a brief internet search I soon found a supplier in Canada who had several tubes of that specific model in warehouse. A few days later, the desired electron tube arrived at my door.

Kingston was the budget version of memory cards. However, name brands such as SanDisk are priced competively nowadays. I don't think the CF card is destined to be obsolete. Especially with the success of C-fast cards now. The Canon 5D Mark 3 and 4 uses them, as well as the CF card model of the Nikon D5. I've heard about CF card pins getting stuck in the CF card slot. As already suggested, an SD card adapter is an alternative. Perhaps a better one.

Buy an adaptor to use SD cards. No more problem.

It would be interesting to see what digital cameras would look like if the transistor had not been invented and they had to use vacuum tubes! They would probably come with a ball hitch and wheels for easy portability!

And not just The Transistor, but no ICs or Printed Circuits.

Imagine a Vacuum Tube computer trying to run Windows 10, it would fill many football stadiums!

1957, that was 60 years ago. I can only imagine you bought that tube to restore a precious something, that is an antique now. To think that computers are almost obsolete after 5 years today?
