Woodsman, were you able to get the name from the side of the B-17? The WWII Museum in New Orleans has an air show every year at the New Orleans Lakefront Airport. I have attended the last couple of years. Wonderful old aircraft is there. One great one is FIFI, a B-29, one of only two that is air worthy in the U.S.

You are correct, rides are not cheap.

And great thinking to set your shutter speed just right in order to capture some blurred movement in the propellers! Not many photographers think of that. Well done! Was one of my favorite aircraft during WWII!

I am so damned thrilled right now I am bouncing off the walls. This old girl one of just a few B17's still flying went right over the house about 9am this morning. I was out with the pup and as luck would have it had just picked up the Lumix ZS5 P&S and put it in my pocket when I heard the engines down the lake. I knew immediately what it had to be and waited on the lawn. It went right over the property circling back to the local airport where it has been on display for a week as part of the Canada 150 celebrations. It is from a US museum group and has been on the ground for the last week for tours. Yesterday and today they have been doing 25 minute rides (big bucks around 500 for the back and 1000US for a ride up front). This time they took up around us and went right over the house. So lucky to see this, just made my photography year.

The sound was amazing, It was quite the honor to see.

Very nice shots of a "Flying Fortress". My cousin was a radio operator on a B17 that was shot down over Germany and he had to sit out the rest of the war in Stalag 4. I would write letters to him in when I was still in junior high school.
BTW I also have shots of a B17 flying over my house and of a B24 flying over a soccer field where I was shooting my granddaughter's game.

Amazing! I had the same thing hap[pen to me a couple of years ago while I was photographing flowers in my garden. Only the one I photographed was in olive drab. I got several good shots.
