I am so damned thrilled right now I am bouncing off the walls. This old girl one of just a few B17's still flying went right over the house about 9am this morning. I was out with the pup and as luck would have it had just picked up the Lumix ZS5 P&S and put it in my pocket when I heard the engines down the lake. I knew immediately what it had to be and waited on the lawn. It went right over the property circling back to the local airport where it has been on display for a week as part of the Canada 150 celebrations. It is from a US museum group and has been on the ground for the last week for tours. Yesterday and today they have been doing 25 minute rides (big bucks around 500 for the back and 1000US for a ride up front). This time they took up around us and went right over the house. So lucky to see this, just made my photography year.

The sound was amazing, It was quite the honor to see.

Great pix of a magnificent bird! I was lucky enough to get a couple of shots of one in March when I was in San Francisco. It was way out over the bay so my shots are not nearly as good as yours!

My dad flew 50 missions in b17s for the 8th Air Force. My first airplane model was a solid pine P51, every step done under the watchful eye of my father.
After a number of failed attempts he returned to the Air Force and retired as a flight instructor, He also was my instructor along with several other flight instructors. all very good memories

This is the B-17G "Sentimental Journey" which belongs to the Commemorative Air Force and is normally home based in Arizona. They have it set up to haul 8 passengers in addition to the flight crew and sell tickets to ride in the plane. Very good shot, I too have one of those little Panasonic pocket cameras, I buy two pocket shirts so I can have my pen, notebook, shopping list etc in one and the ZS6 in the other "just in case". When my wife is SHOPPING I will often find the fresh flower display and take closeups.

Chino CA's airport 10 miles south of me is home to the "Planes of Fame" museum and they have flyins for the old war birds. They often use the area where my house is as their turn point to head back to the airfield. It seems almost as if they are using my large swimming pool as their pivot point. I have gotten some fairly good shots of them overhead. So far I haven't been outside for any of the large 4 engine planes. But I got a shot of a B-25 escorted by 1 torpedo bomber, 3 different US fighters and 1 Spitfire.

Thanks it was a fluke. I heard it once more but they did not come up this far and circled south out of sight. I think they were shortening the rides to get done before the storms rolled in

We do not have many air shows or displays up here so this was a real treat to see. A first for me and likely the only one I will ever get to see
