Thanks to all for your welcome for us new to the Hog. If I were to upload a photo, I'm not seeing an attachment feature to this page. Also, what size images are most commonly offered? I dont' want to upload a photo thats to HUGE or that makes you take out a magnifying glass to see it either.

Briefly, I used my old Olympus's for years. I loved my cameras, and used them for outdoor and Macro photography. I have boxes of slides and photos sitting in storage. But the Olympus's died on me after several years and no one would repair them without a high price. Plus I had to switch to other passions I had for a while and let them grow as well. Anyway, I decided over time to get a digital camera. Thanks again and let me know how to upload a pict or two. It will be from my past for now. I'm still in transition stage to digital.

Nikon D5600 is a very nice DSLR camera and not that expensive.

Thanks. I bought a Panasonic FX150 from a friend. I know Nikon is great! This camera I have is a good start and one I could afford at the moment. I look forward to learning and getting to know some of you over time. :)

PS I am WAY confused about the forum. I registered and got in to here. But I went to look at some topics. I replied to one and it showed. I went to another group of topics (I think) and replied to another one. I got a message saying I needed to register or sign in if I was registered. I thought I was. So I signed in. It responded with a similar message regarding registering.

How come I could post to the first one without signing in and it showed and sent me a notice if someone else posted, but to another one it seemed to not let me in because they didn't recognize me. . .or something. When I went to find the topic I responded to, it disappeared. Had to do with lots of people parachuting out of an airline, I mean, a LOT of people. After I posted I never saw it again.

Lynn, my first Digital Camera was a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ8, I didn't stop using it until about 1.5 years ago..I still have it, yours must be a either an older model or a newer one but I'm sure they're similar in most respects, If you have any questions about the Camera Functions maybe I can help you..Regards to you and enjoy the Forum.

Its an FZ150. My bad, I put the wrong model number down. Glad to hear there's another Panasonic person on board. My friend wanted to sell his and told me about it because he knew I wanted a digital camera. He upgraded his Panasonic camera and sold his older one to me. He spent over an hour or more telling me all the little things it can do and how to do them (he's an engineer, you can't stop them from trying to teach you with all the little details). By the time he was done I was fried and didn't touch it until a year or so later. Now I need to because a project has come up.

So I now know I have a camera that can do video, panoramic views, as well as all the regular stuff, with some good filters, etc and has too many bells and whistles. I simply love taking outdoor photos as I did with my Olympus cameras, and doing Macro work (depending on the flowers and fauna I'm tracking down), and the critters who let me do so, including a deer who wanted to lick my camera. Talk about a weird picture! But now I'm starting over and trying to keep it simple for my project and will get back to my fun stuff later. The stuff I used to wake up in the wee hours to take some lake or lighting shots I'm trying to capture. Later. Back to the basics so I can use this thing for a few simple shots of annuals planted in nice containers. Stay tuned. Maybe we can exchange emails. Might be easier. Thanks again.

Welcome to the party! There's so much to learn here. Don't be afraid to ask questions and to ask clarification when you don't dig the answer.
