Hi Lucky and everyone,
What a nice coincidence. I too am new today. I used to use two olympus manual cameras and took pictures in so many natural settings. Then for years I stopped. I moved out to the country here in Minnesota. I'm in Cokato on 3.3 acres and the trees have old growth. But it occupied my time caring for it. I'm 63. And my significant other, who was the head gardener at a golf course, retired recently. We do container planting among other things and he wants to start a business.

Well, before that, in 2015, I bought a digital camera, (Panasonic DMC FZ 150) and it has so many bells and whistles on it. My friend who sold it too me at a bargain explained it so much I felt overwhelmed and didn't touch it til now. That's because Chris wants to start a container planting business and asked me to take photos of our containers. So I'm relearning how to use a digital and starting over. Lots to learn. I came on board to connect with others. But is this only for Nikkon and Canon? I have a Canon printer but they're both excellent brands as cameras go. I've already been shooting on the deck and downloading it to my computer. Won't be long before I'm back in form.

Glad to be here and to chat with you all. Especially Lucky. Good to come on board same time as she.

Welcome to the forum Lynne.
You don't have to use all of the buttons at once, just start with a few.

Hi Lucky Strike, I am assuming you are a lady but that might be wrong. Dust your camera down, get out walking and start taking some pictures. I know the temptation with digital is to blast away from every conceivable angle until you can't think of anything more to do, we all fall victim to that. If you think of your camera as a film camera and you only have a few shots to get it right then that is simple way of applying thought to improve composition but it is a gradual process.

By the way, leave the techies alone. They think that everything over 18 months old should be put in the attic with the Brownie 127. They think a good photo can't come out of an old camera. Just let them talk amongst themselves and get on with taking some photos.

Welcome to the Hog. This is a wonderful place to "lurk " and learn from. Dust off that camera and have fun shooting.
