Have a look at the Panasonic LUMIX Lx100.
Ticked all the boxes for me and has a fantastic Leica 1.7 24-70 zoom. Also, in my opinion anyway, the best EVF that I tried. Can be set up as a simple point and shoot using the Panasonic 'intelligent I' settings or shoot RAW And make all manual adjustments.
My D7100 has hardly had an outing since I got mine.

An iPhone 7 Plus takes great pictures and it is in your pocket. Other phones take good pictures also I have heard.

FYI: If you don't care about viewfinders any typical point and shoot will do. My frustration with the lack of viewfinder on my Canon A2500 (nothing was sharp as I had to hold it in an unsteady manner to see the monitor) caused me to recently replace it with a Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS60. Which has a viewfinder. I have been using it more than my Pentax X-50.

My P&S that I use is a Canon G15, it's like a mini dslr a new model has taken it's place.

I have a Nikon S7000 as my pocket-able P&S camera. It has a 16mp sensor,wide 20 X zoom (4.5-90mm), full HD video recording, wi-fi and IS.
It is about the size of a 100mm pack of cigarettes and will easily fit into a shirt pocket.

Use a smartphone. Even older iPhones shoot better images than most P&S cameras. You can get an iPhone 5S for $99.00 if you shop a bit.

Canon SX60 -- <$500, 65x(!) zoom; intuitive controls. The complete package for P&S. I hike with it.

My choice for size vs quality is the Panasonic ZS 100. Reasonable zoom, shoots raw and fits in my pocket.

Just bought one. I'm only going to shoot jpegs with it, and I had to tweak the preset sharpening a bit to my liking to enhance fine detail, but even out of the box, the pictures are quite good. You wouldn't even notice the tweaks without enlarging the images quite a bit. It fits in a pants pocket.

Just bought the g7 for grand kids and some hiking in Rocky Mountain National Park. Missed my 7D mark ll with the tele for a few wildlife shots but it sure was easier to carry the g7 and got nice scenic shots as well as good pics of the kids!

Perhaps someone should define point and shoot. The Canon G7x Mark II I recently bought cost almost $700, and some cameras mentioned in this thread cost more. My camera has many features of a typical DSLR, full manual control including aperture and shutter speed, different shooting and scene modes, adjustments in sharpness, color, white balance and contrast, shooting RAW, full HD video, wireless etc. The only thing it lacks compared with my older Canon SX 230 HS is GPS. Both my iPhone and Samsung phone take fine pictures under some circumstances, but there is no comparison overall. Even the best of my phone pictures have a different "look" to them, and it isn't better.

I just got back from Disney. I also did not want to lug my Nikon around simply for "memory snapshots". So I took a Sony 14 MP point and shoot and my I-phone. The phone took way better pictures than the point and shoot.

Please let us know what camera you finally choose and how it performed in Disney. I am a camera junkie - I love hearing about all the cameras. THANKS
