Taking the grand kids to Disney World. I am NOT packing my dslr gear! This is a vacation. But, still want some good pictures and I haven't updated my point and shoot since 6 megapixels. Need a suggestion for a good one.

I use a Sony DSC-HX80 and love it. My main camera is a Nikon D750 .

What do you think about maybe going to Nikon 1, sort of a fancy point and shoot

I love my Panasonic GM5. It is a M4/3. As teeny as they get.

The current model is a Lumix 850. I prefer the GM 5 because of the viewfinder but it is out of production so you'd have to find a used one.

What is your budget? If money is not an issue, by all means get the Sony RX1markII. As tiny as they get with one of the best FF sensors around with an amazing 35mm lens.

Amazing machine for sure. But kind of specialized with fixed non-zoom lens.

I took my Canon sx50 to Disney and got some good shots. They are hard to come by now but the sx60 is available.

6mp is still bigger than current screen resolution. If you are happy with the camera you've got use it!

I like my Sony A6000.

Point and Shoot cameras are like the $30 no settings cameras. You are looking for a 24/7 pocket camera; there when you need it, there when "Taking the grand kids to Disney World... not packing DSLR gear." Lots of Super Zooms out there... bridge camera is out, too bulky. That Zoom grabs the grandkids when they are where you will not go ... like the water slide.

Jerry is the librarian here and he has handed you lots of reading so you can pick and chose based on knowledge. I have a [now old] Sony HX50, I had a Pentax before, liked both equally but the Pentax fell into the very old category. I do not recall the basis of my choice of the Sony, but being retired and having a retirement that has a shrinking buying power... prob decision was strongly based on $.

Any P&S that has come out in the last 5 years will take great shots. Just look for one with a decent EVF to deal with the Florida sunshine.
