Sony RX 100s are great and fit in a pocket or purse easily.

Your smartphone will do nicely, especially the later Samsungs and Motorolas. That's why the point and shoot market has collapsed.

I'm a Canon guy. Three years ago before going to Disney World, I bought a Canon SX710HS. It's about the size of cigarette pack, 20.2MP, built-in flash, built in 30x zoom plus 10x digital, shoots in manual, Av, Tv, Program, Live, Auto, Sports, Movie, and three frames at a time. It does not have a view finder, but an LCD. It does not shoot in RAW. Does in incredible job in low light. I also took my DSLR and three zoom lenses that spent most of their time in room safe. I also have a small LowePro case to carry it, plus two batteries and an extra SD card.

Advantages: Skip the baggage check lines with it in your pocket, or carrying it in the small case. Light weight. The case has a loop for going on your belt. In Best Buy, at maximum zoom, I could read the price stickers on DVDs on the other side of the store. Then turn around and focus on the camera information tag at less than 1-1/2" from the lens. At Epcot, I set the camera on a concrete post at the English Pub after dark, zoomed to max and took a really good shot of the Mexican Pavilion on the opposite end of the Lake. In Star Tours, I took free handed snap shots of everything under the walkways. Now I know what is there that I couldn't see with the naked eye.

The SX710HS has been replaced by the SX730HS that has a 40X zoom. Give it a looky see. I like it. You might too.

I really like my Canon G7X Mark OK. Always take it with me, along with my Canon 7D Mark II, and have often used it when I don't want to carry my big baby. And it offers a lot of the options you find on the big DSLR cameras. Take videos and zooms. Just took 4th fireworks with its speciality fireworks setting. Forgot my tripod (dummy), but still took fantastic clear images resting it on the arm of my chair and a 2 second delay. Also has WiFi capability.

That's Mark II. Hate auto correct sometimes.

Take a look at the Canon G7X Mark II. Small, decent sensor, reasonable zoom, shoots RAW.

I second the Canon G7X. Low light 1.8/2.8 lens! 24-100 zoom. 20 MP.

And the Canon G7X has a tilt LED screen that I can angle to get a better look and reduce sun glare problems. Has touch spot focusing on the LED too.

I also like the Sony RX100 series cameras (have used the original and III). The advantage of the original is a somewhat longer lens, but the the III (and presumably later versions) are better in low light (which can work on some of the Disney rides). The camera produces excellent images and fits easily in a pocket.

I'm partial to carrying my iPhone 7 Plus all the time, but if I WERE going to buy a sort of point-and-shoot style camera, it would have to have interchangeable lenses. And since I own a Lumix GH4, I would probably get a Micro 4/3 compact such as the Lumix GX850. Panasonic and Olympus both make some small zooms and pancake primes that make such a body pocketable — at least to some degree. And if you're already a Micro 4/3 user, all your current lenses will fit, as will any small lenses you would buy for the GX850.

If you must have a real viewfinder, not just an LCD screen, look for a Lumix GM5. New ones can still be found on Amazon.com.

Warning: If you're not a Micro 4/3 user, this might make you want more.

When I do not want to lug a bag around I use my Canon SX60HS. Outdoor shots are pretty decent IMHO. Overall I like this camera a lot. Bought it refurbished from Canon for $299.00 on sale.
