The Squirrles keep taking down my suite feeder, and I found out how they are doing it.
Try a stick of dynamite. Hell, it's the 4th of July!! LOL
Yes, PP was fun. I told my son that as soon as I put up the new feeder the squirrels will bring their tool kit to take it down, so this was fun to show him.

Well, yeah. Because the suet is so......"suite".
In the late Fall and Winter, I did the same thing as you. I placed suet feeders for the birds. The squirrels destroyed the cages. My husband bought a pellet rifle and started to solve the problem. The birds were happy and the cages were no longer being destroyed. He would leave the squirrels where they dropped and in the morning the bodies were gone. It turned out to be a win--win situation.

Take a look at Twirl-a-squirrel. Even if you don't buy one, you'll enjoy the video 😎.
Squrill proof bird feeder: 10' / 1/2" iron pipe, 1 / 1/2" pipe tee, 2 / 1/2" x 12" pipe nipples, 2 / 1/2" pipe caps. Assemble tee & nipples at one end with caps on end of arms. 1 squrill baffle (Amazon) & install about 5' up the pipe held in place by hose clamps. Depending on soil erect with 16" in the ground. Hang feeders from arms. Hose clamps can be used to clamp cage type feeders to the pole above the guard or on top of the tee. Erect away from overhanging tree branches. The inventive squrill will ride them down to the top. Never had them defeat these feeders, but they did clean up the seed the birds dropped.
I've got a couple of water guns- one is rated at 70 feet. The squirrels have learned evasive tactics but their activity has declined.
A good air gun will take of the squirrels and there good on the grill if you marinate them!

Trap them and release far away.
After 178 trap and releases I'm almost ready to admit defeat. Almost. (Ya hear that, Rocky?)
Pesky little critters aren't they.

Good shot. I have the same problem. The have a great leap using their hind legs.
Thank you all for your comments.
It amazes me how they can be so clever when it comes to finding solutions for food but they are so dumb when it comes to crossing a road. How many times have I seen a squirrel get 3/4s of the way across the road and then turn back and get pancaked. Lots! Extreme nearsightedness maybe?
