Trap them and release far away. I just spotted a rabbit in my front yard and that's what I will do. I did the same with squirrels at my bird feeders as well. The chipmunk is a different story. Too small for my traps.

Great opportunity and caught red handed. Squirrels are among the most acrobatic of animals. What remedy do you have to prevent this from happening again, without sacrificing feeding? Raccoons are pretty agile animals too.

I stood in the backyard for over a half hour having a verbal fight with a squirrel that was on my bird feeder, he won the argument and I just walked away. There are to many of them for me to trap them all so I just try to make it harder for them to take the feeders.

I sic my dog on them anymore... He isn't fast enough to catch them though & it becomes good exercise for him. I do have to keep an eye peeled out for rabbit nests though as he killed 4 baby rabbits several years back in a nest inside my fenced in yard. Found another nest the following year & relocated it outside of the fence before he found it.

Our local agway store sells a squirrel deterrent device for poles that looks just like a slinky. I use 7 foot poles, double baffled and placed far enough away from anything the squirrels may jump from. The little buggers try, but they haven't made it to the SUET on those poles. Another trick I use on the squirrels is oversized suet feeders with wire mesh inserted. I put a regular size suet cake in the big feeders and the birds with their long beeks have no problem getting to the suet, but the squirrels can't reach it, the holes are too small.

Untill you understand that you do not have bird feeders, and in fact you have squirrel feeders you will not be happy.

Someone told me a good shake of cayenne pepper; the birds don't taste it but the squirrels don't like it.

This is true, birds have no heat receptors in their mouths. They can eat the hottest of peppers with no ill effect. Squirrels on the other hand, do.Hot pepper sauce is not to their liking.

6 feet high. He must have been really hungry. He's cute though.
