Lmarc. That is kind of strange. Are you using ver 2.3 and is the image a jpeg?

Yeah, I thought so, too. I re-downloaded it and reinstalled but same thing. I went to their website to see if I'm doing something wrong, but the only thing I can see is that I have a "trial version" and if I want the full featured version I need to pay from $49.99 to $99.99 depending on how much information I want.

I can get it from the other website Nikonian provided or from Photoshop CS4, so I'm not going to mess with this any more. I do appreciate you trying to help!

Ok...SUCCESS! But not with Opanda. I downloaded the PIE program suggested by tkhphotography earlier in this thread. It works like a big dose of Epsom Salt!!! It shot out more information in an instant than I could EVER know what to do with!!

PIE showed the exact same number as Photoshop CS4, but without having to hunt it down in a big sea of gobbledegook HTML-looking stuff. AND it appears to be able to use any format: jpg, RAW, tif, etc.

Thanks VERY much!!! This certainly made my day!

Wow! I AM shocked for another reason, though. I had NO IDEA there is so much information stored in every single image I take with this D-60 (and I'm sure it's the same with any other camera)!

I'm looking through this list now to see if it has my blood type, dna, fingerprints and what I had for breakfast!

you will see how to use this once you go to the website

i tried this one and it returned an answer but it seemed to be about 3 times higher than i thought it would be. it all seemed a bit too easy.

Easy is good for me but check it out using one of the other methods listed on the forum. I belong to the PPAG and this was passed on to us.

I finally found the count in CS4 and it agreed exactly with the PIE count. The count from the camerashuttercount site was lower, but only slightly. I couldn't get Opanda to work, but probably because I tried the trial version. All in all, I'm not sure I'd trust the online count considering my experience and what you're saying it showed for you.

Thanks for this site. Fast way to get the shutter count. I've only used up 17% on my D90. Can wait a couple more years for the successor of D7000 to come out.

I had found www.camerashuttercount.com previously via Google, (then lost it, thanks for relocating it).

Peterg, I didn't know that Preview could display that information. Terrific!

In Photoshop CS5, I had to go to File -> File Info... -> Advanced -> Schema (http://ns.adobe.com/exif/1.0.aux/) to find it, and it was labeled "aux.ImageNumber". I don't know if I'd have recognized it as the actuation count if I hadn't check it out first in Preview. I'm not sure if I can ever find it again that way. :(

The ViewNX2 software that comes with the camera doesn't show this anywhere that I can find. Why conceal it?

Peterg,

I couldn't get that to work. I had to export my last photo into a jpg...open the jpg in Preview....Go to Tools>show inspector>more tools>exif>image number. I guess the image number is the actual shutter actuations. It works on both cameras. (D700 and D300)

I used to get that number from my Linux DigiKam photo editor. It has all the exif info straight off the Nef file.

Thanks for the heads up on that Preview path to the shutter count. Much easier than loading a photo on the Linux machine.

By the way, I'm using an Imac with OS X 10.6.8

Thanks,

Lee
