Thank you for the kind words...Yes, you did notice the VN Service Ribbon on the panel...in fact there are 78 VN Service Ribbons on her, one for every bullet hole she took...this was done during restoration to pay homage to all her Crews over the 6 years this aircraft was in-country...

Great set and great job restoring an outstanding bird. I believe I spotted the VN service ribbon at the patch panels, very cool.

Great pictures of a great bird...brings back memories (24 combat air assaults). Would it have hurt if you displayed the "better unit" on her, 1st of the 7th instead of the "almost good" 1st of the 9th? Just kidding. Thanks for making my day. Dave.

Blackhorse 1/7 Welcome Home
Glad you like the photos and you are right she is a great bird!
Well we would of put 1/7 on her if she was attached to that unit...:)
She is one of three birds we have restored and is currently flying to Veteran events throughout the Midwest...

Namwife, thanks for your note. All of you involved in the restoration are to be commented. Most folks don't realize that the average age of a US Army helicopter pilot in Vietnam was 20 years old. They were promised glory, taught to fly at Uncle Sam's expense, given the keys (no keys, just a metaphor) to a fast ride and told to fly missions through enemy machine guns and rockets. There were so many 18 year old kids who reached their 19th birthday because of the incredible bravery of the Huey pilots. To each and every one....they were magnificent.

Thank you...but as you can see it is purely a labor if "Love"...It is that very history that we are trying to preserve...
Take Care, blackhorse1/7

Beautiful restoration! While I spent 20 years in the Air Force, I never had the "pleasure" of going to SEA. I was lucky to fly in some Hueys while stationed in Alaska. Remarkable aircraft.

Great photos. Who did the restoration and how long did it take?

Thank you....Vertical Lift Repair Station in Texas and it took 6 years...We knew it would take a lot to get her back in the sky, but she has too much history not to try..

My Sis was married while I was home(1960) on leave before my tour in Japan for the AF, they divorced in abt.1964. David was immediately drafted and presto-chango he became a
Huey Driver and off to SVN w/Uncle Sam pickin up the tab. When he was discharged and w/no flyin job here in Tx. so off to So. America for a while flyin down there for a while, tks to references from Army.
