Days like today mean nothing to me. The Army took all the fun away 50 years ago. I'll take the hatred to my grave! Why did they put me through it.....? No parades....no grave-sites....no flags.

I'm a veteran. I severed my country in the late 60's including a tour in Vietnam. I am always grateful when someone thanks me for my service but, I think most people lose sight of what this day really means. It is a day for remembrance of those who gave their lives in the service of this country. I feel a little embarrassed when someone thanks me for my service on this day, especially when I think of all of those people have lost lost a family member or a loved one in defense of this country and I was fortunate enough to have not lost my life. There is a holiday when we can all celebrate the contributions of our veterans. It is called Veterans Day.

If you are married or have children or nieces or nephews or grand children, what kind of example are you showing them? You are one sick puppy and you need help. In your current condition, I would be VERY hesitant to be around you. Get help, PLEASE!!

Never married.....never lived with any lady.....I don't believe in either. I never wanted the picket fence....the two car garage....kids....in-laws...grandchilden. 4.7% of men in America over 60 never married....lived with anybody. There is two sides to every story....I'm the side that seldom speaks out....because of the critisium! I can't be the only one....but the only one who has the nerve to speak out!?

No. You're the only one (at least on this forum) who is tasteless and selfish enough to make this thread about you rather than the actual reason for this day - to honor the nation's war dead. Shame on you.

OK, I have been quiet with your crying, whining, and such. The way you are carrying one is as if you are a child. You wont let it go and keep posting your rant. You apparently need attention and this is your way of getting it. If you need help, then get it.

Just my opinion.... take it or leave it...... but, PLEASE, on this day of remembrance, stop your crying.... you are only making folks think you are just a crier.

Don't thank me.....it was not my idea! Instead....try to understand why after 50 years....I still can't believe my country put me through those 2 years....

How did you ever miss the main point that America put thousands of men through the exact same training as you experienced. It is called building up a military force. The more I see your writing, the more I think of you as an old man snowflake POS.

To think men and women died so you will have the freedom to write such drivel.

T'd like to remind my fellow white American vets that a lot of minority vets had every reason to resent being called up, especially in WW II. Yet many enlisted and served heroically, especially the Japanese-Americans in the 100th Infantry Battalion and the 442nd Combat Team. The battalion had 1,300 men, all Japanese-Americans, who collected more than 1,000 Purple Hearts while battling Germans from Salerno to Rome. Meanwhile, their families back home were forced out of their homes and into internment camps, losing everything in the process. But these guys worked out their resentments on the battlefield. In one engagement in 1943, they took on a crack German SS battalion. The battle lasted from Noon to 5:00 PM. The 100th lost one man and eight wounded. The Nazis lost 110 dead, 38 wounded, and 18 prisoners, plus 12 motorcycles, 19 jeeps, , seven trucks, two half-tracks, one tank, two anti-tank guns, four 155mms, an SP gun, a radio CP, and a battalion CP with 20 telephones. The 100th had one box of ammunition left. (Based on a report in YANK magazine at the time.)

To carry this inside you can only destroy you, have you thought about seeking medical help. Yes it was a bad time in the history of the country, but a lot of us look ahead not back. I hope you get help and can learn to forget the past and not keep on reliving it.

you know it was a bad experience and I wish I had never seen such things but it also made me strong inside so that I could take what life threw at me and boy has it thrown a lot of stuff. I survived it all had a successful business a 40 year and still going strong marriage 3 kids 4 grandkids, I think that I would have had a mediocre life if not for the Navy and my experiences in it I saw much of this world and there are many places I liked so much I have taken my family there. I deal with the vets hospital system regularly sure they are flawed but what system isnt, that does not mean I diss them (any of the flawed systems in this great country) but try and do my part to fix it. I am rated 100 %
ptsd, I have diabetes and crohn's disease and a very bad skin disease caused by Agent Orange yes it way sprayed directly on us. I deal with all that and still function pretty well my advice to you is like others on here have suggested get some help[ it sounds as if you may have ptsd yesterday was a somber day for me remembering my friends and all those who gave their lives for you and all of us you need to thank them even if you are bitter from your experience and by the way I was drafted after college and found out later that I was never supposed to be in a war zone because I was the last person to carry on my last name, I succeeded in making sure my last name carries on for a long time another success. Hope you find your way out of this funk you are in I hate to see anyone so bitter it interferes with life. I would take the place of anyone headed into the fire today if they would allow me I don't wish war on anyone but it has happened throughout the ages and looks like no end in site someone has to help the folks who cannot help themselves or the killing and war will keep on spreading.[quote=illininitt]This day has NO meaning to me! I think this guy is bogus, he is just jerking everybody's chain to get a reaction. It seems to be working for him , a way to get some kind of attention.
