Part of the problem is, people hate feeling used or stupid. So they read a little or ask a friend. THen they TRY to pretend they know what they are talking about. This is kinda the fault of Used Car Salesman type sellers. They talk circles around you and try to blind you to the issues. So people are trying to compensate and doing a rather bad job at it some times. The honest pay the price for the dishonest. Some times, it's great to get those clients and prove their friend wrong, but more than not, it's just not worth the effort and resulting headache.. lol
I'd say you are blessed that you didn't get stuck with those idiots. You probably could not have pleased them, no matter what gorgeous images you produced!!!

There is a cure for ignorance, however; medicine hasn't invented one for STUPID yet. After over 25 years in this business you will never hear all of them. Has a lady come to me while shooting Motocross and ask if my camera was good enough to shoot a car that had been restored. I wanted to come up with a good one but only smiled and said as long as the car isn't older than me.....

perhaps I can finish it, by just reminding us all we are all members of ONE race,

why then can,t we all get along ?

As FDR once said to Joe Louis, "You're a credit to your race, the human race."

We can't get along because our philosopher of choice is a drunken violent criminal.

i'm married to a black woman. she loves to have me take photos of her reletives. By the way according to the black leaders Blacks can not be racist..
That last sentence is the most ignorant, racist thing I have read in quite awhile. I treat everyone the same, with dignity and respect. That is of course unless they disrespect me first. At that point I tend to walk away, but if they continue, they get blasted with both barrels (figuratively of course.) For all of the stupid things that Rodney King did in his short life, he did pose the perfect question: "Why can't we all just get along?" Also, you don't think Black people can be racist, check out this video. This was one of the "new" black panthers who were intimidating voters at the polling places in Philadelphia, PA back in 2008. Then due to the genius of Eric Holder, they decided NOT to proceed to sentencing, after they already got a plea of "GUILTY." Tell me this man is not racist:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iLWmo2kCa8oI don't talk this way to anyone, of any color, race or ethnicity. This is just wrong.
Last time I checked, not even God can please everyone. You were lucky to get out when you did.
After my laughter had subsided I figure you had a lucky escape to be honest, nutters like that should be avoided
Your portraits are professional quality.

My husband and I have blond skin. We have a daughter with brown skin. People have been known to come to my husband's office and complain and call him a racist. Every now and then, he will turn around a picture on his desk and say, "have you met my family?" just for the reaction. Generally he doesn't refute the charge, just tries to deal with the issue at hand cause you don't want to be beat by experience (referencing Mark Twain).
BTW - I am not a professional and do not take pictures professionally but just to show a little comparison - a picture I took of my daughter and my last picture of a bird!

Nice picture of your daughter. She is beautiful

Before I owned my own photo business I worked for one of the best team sports photographers in North Idaho and Eastern Washington. He trained me to shoot team and individual (trading card) style photos, cheerleaders, etc. Over the course of two years we made nearly $100,000 just on those photos. In all that training and through every photo shoot I can't remember a single time when he asked me to take pictures of flowers or a landscape.
Some people just don't understand what it takes to be a good sports photographer...and no amount of talking or education will ever change that. Take a deep breath, throw down a cold one, and move on to the next job.
