There's lots of talk about the rusty old Chevy here, but my pick of your photos is the interesting Gulf station. Nice work with that photo. I have some shots of a re-created Sinclair station, but it's a full-sized replica in a family's field and is non-working.

Very nice images
The car is a very late 1930 - early 1940s Pontiac, body style looks a lot like my 1942 Chev. (yes 1942 it had us army s/n on it.) Oops it is a 1940 Chev coupe, the grilles were more massive and different shape from 1942 on up.

IMHO. I don't think it's a 42 because of the Crome. ( but could be very early 42) In 1942 Crome was used for the war effort only. Look at the hood ornament it is Pontiac. I say 1940 or 41. Nice car

Great images of the Chevy and Gulf station. Very nostalgic. I had forgotten about the ding but that made me chuckle. Thanks for the memory!

This is one, of 2 or 3 "Full Service" Stations, left in our town. The owner did a great job in restoring it. I love to go by there, it is just right up the street from our downtown. also, and old 1953/54(?) I think, Plymouth. Has all the original parts. My husband likes to buy and sell things. It always makes for interesting things to look at, when people come to our Building Supply Store to shop. I have an antiques store there as well. Wanted to keep it for photo prop, but my husband decided he would make a better return for his money if he just sold it as is! He was right, of course! Would have taken lots of photo shoots to make what he did. So, sadly, it was purchased yesterday.

The station and the car bring back memories of my childhood. Thanks for posting. Nice photos, very nicely done!

Actually a 1940 Chevy Deluxe Coupe.

Not to be nitpicking, but does that front bumper indicate something about the model? I know nothing about them, but because of this post I did a little searching.

Could it be a Chevrolet Master, or Deluxe Business Coupe, or Special Deluxe? I find lots of names.

It's "Memory Lane" time here... Great job on the pics tresap23. The car, I'm pretty sure, is a 1940 Chevy Special Deluxe. The "Business Coupe" had a slightly different shaped trunk area. Master Deluxe was the top of the line then. I, too, worked at a Gulf Station while in high school in Arkansas in the early '50s and learned a lot of lifetime lessons there, enjoyed it all and it is one of the few eras and times I would go back for a visit in a heartbeat. The smells were wonderful, gas smelled fantastic then, the smell of new tires was intoxicating to me, still is, and the girls needing gas in convertibles and shorts during summer was a huge bonus. One of the later designed Gulf buildings is still there but Gulf is gone, image #1. It was conveniently located right across the street from my school, image #2.

Gulf Oil Company was absorbed by Standard Oil of California in 1985, but is also being reborn as Gulf Oil Limited Partnership with headquarters in Framingham Massachusetts.(per wikipedia)
