Thanks. I'm not used to prime lenses, not since the 50mm was my standard lens in the 1970. I'll have to rethink that.

Yes, I've read about that lens. I always had the 18-200mm on my D7xxx.

Tamron has an 18-300mm, but it's not E-mount. It's gotten good reviews.

The 18-105G is a very dependable lens and that angle of view is very nice for travel, though bulky compared to the kit lenses which IMHO are fine. I also use legacy Tamron 16-300 and L 24-70 lenses with Canon fit on a nice Fotodiox adapter. All in all, 3 lbs is better than 5....

I have the same lens that you have and found they meet my need.
I do have an adapator for canon lens and I'm trying to use my Tamron 28-300 on the a6000. Works pretty well but no AF.

Agree on all counts. My 16-70m (SEL1670Z) is on my Sony A6300 most of the time. My 55-210mm is pretty good, especially for the price. I've compared images of the 50mm f1.8 with the 16-70mm set to 50mm. In normal light, the 50mm is very very slightly better. Only pixel peepers would care. Bottom line: Get the Sony 16-70 (SEL16-70Z) which is now has a $100 savings at Adorama and B&H.

I think you have everything covered with those lenses. If you "need" anything else, you wouldn't have asked the question--you would already have the answer.

My favorite is the Sony-SELP 18-105-OSS. I keep that one on all the time.

I have a Sony a6000 and the Sony 16-50, 18-55, and 55-210, all of which have given some good results, but I tend to agree that they are not particularly exciting. I have the Sony 16mm f/2.8 but cannot say that it is really any better than the 16-50 at the 16mm range. I have the Sigma 30mm f/2.8 and it is very nice but I find that I prefer some degree of zoom capability. I had some Canon lenses before acquiring the a6000, so I purchased a Commlite adapter to try them on the a6000. About the only lens I have that will autofocus somewhat consistently with this adapter is my Canon 50mm f/1.4. It works like it is supposed to do. I like the performance of my Canon 24-105L regarding IQ, and the versatility of its zoom range, but it does make a rather large combination to carry around. The same may be said of my Canon 70-200 f4L. Also, my Canon 85mm f/1.8 performs well, though I find little occasion to use it. I also have a Rokinon 35mm f/1.4 (totally manual focus) which does exceptionally well in low light. However, the Sigma 30mm f/2.8 would probably do 95% of what the Rokinon will do, and do it with autofocus to boot.

I very recently purchased a Sigma 17-50 f/2.8 in Canon mount to use with my adapter on the a6000. Unfortunately, the combination does not autofocus. While the results in manual focus are quite acceptable, I cannot say that this lens gives me any real advantage over the Sony 18-55 or the 16-50.

Also, I picked up off of eBay a Kiron 105mm f/2.8 macro lens in Canon FD mount which seems to work very nicely with the a6000.

I checked out some of the reviews on the 16-70 and a few of the shooter felt that the lens they received were of poor quality and returned them. The reasons seemed to be that they lack sharpness. Most were still looking for a good piece of glass.

I have the Sony 6500, with the Sony 0-18 F4 the Sony 16-70 F4 and I just got the Sony 70-200 F4 used. I love this new lens. Sharp and not to heavy.

Hi Jerry. I dumped the kit lenses and replaced them with the 18-200 (SEL18200LE) before my first Europe trip with my a6000. That is also the lens I now use on my a6300. The other lenses I use are a Nikon 400mm and a Rokinon 8mm fisheye. I bought a 50mm f1.8 but never used it. The ISO quality of the a6300 is so good that 6400 is practically noiseless and very good even at 12800. And the lens is about as good as I can see without a microscope even on my 20x30 prints. I would like to have a serious macro lens and, at the other end, a Tamron 150-600. I can find the $s for that and the LA-EA4 adapter yet. When I do, I'll give my daughter the 400.
