I have a D810 and the lens nearly always attached to it is a Zeiss 50mm f1.4(? camera is out of reach just now) or my 24-120mm f4. Great lens. I have others. These are the workhorses.

I've had crop sensor Nikons and now have a pair of D800s. My most used lenses for landscapes are 45mm PC-E and 85mm PC-E. The PC-E lenses will go to 1:2 magnification for excellent flower closeups. For really close in macros I use either a Sigma 150mm F2.8 or a Tamron 180mm F3.5 (if I need extra working distance). I found both macros to be very good in quality and are as good as the Nikon lenses for a lot less money.

I have a 24mm PC-E, 14-24mm, 24-70mm, 80-200mm 100-300mmF4, 150-600 Sigma Sport - all of which I have used for landscape, and the 24-70mm can be put into use as a close up lens for flowers when I don't have my other gear with me. But they are not my go-to lenses for landscape or flower macros.

It is correctly said that the most versatile lens is the one we are using when we are photographing. My primary camera in use is the D7000 and my favorite lens is the 18-200 VR. I also have a D610 full frame and the old 28-105 f3.5-4.5 D lens is my most used lens with that camera followed by the old 50mm f1.4 S from the late 60's that I had AI converted for use with my dSLR cameras.
Today, with the D750 and the D800 series I often see photographers using the 24-105 or 24-120 Nikon AFS lenses and more advanced amateurs and professionals go with the 24-70 f2.8.

I shoot with a D800 and have five af-d primes, one af-d zoom and one af-s zoom but 95% of the time, the 50mm 1.4 is my preferred lens. It is the lens on the body when I pull it out of the bag and throw the strap over my head. I am primarily a landscape shooter and a lot of those are multi-frame panos which the 50 is well-suited for plus it is fast enough for shooting in pre-dawn conditions without dipping into the high ISO range. I will change out the lens according to what I am shooting as needed.
This lens was my first purchase of a prime and I just expanded it from there. On average I have spent about $300 for each of my legacy AF-D primes.

My D810 seems to have the Nikon 16-35 mm f4 lens permanently attached to it. That said, the other lens I carry for landscapes is the Nikon 24-120 f4. Both lenses take the same filter size, so, if I need more reach, I switch to the 24-120. Both lenses are extremely sharp. And, along with these lenses I also carry a NIKON FLASH, cause they are so much better than the cheap imitations out there today. Ride with the brand, and you'll be a fan.

This is true for me as well. Those 2 lens do the majority of my landscape. Sometimes I also use the Nikon 70-200 F4. The flash is useful in lighting the foreground. I also use a longer lens to reach across a lake for fall color as an example. Something in the 400 to 600mm range with the Nikon 200-500mm or my 400mm prime. If it still isn't long enough, I put one of these on the D500 and then it's ready for wildlife should that become available.

I find that I use my D810 mostly for Portraits and Real Estate. My most used lenses with this body are my 85/1.4, 14-24/2.8 and 24-70/2.8. In the next round would be my 70-200 (both 2.8 AND F4) and a 24-105/4. Best of luck.

My 24-28mm 2.8 lens is married to my D810.
I've done 2 exhibits with images made solely with that combination.

That obviously changes with the body you use ( I shoot Canon FF, never had a FX), but on my camera, the most used lens is my 70-200, if I had a camera with a crop factor, I would have probably something in the equal focal length as my go to lens (if it provides me with the same IQ)!

Depends on what I'm photographing. Travel I mostly use 28mm-300mm. Models I mostly use 24mm-70mm.

I'm not being snippy, but did you post to the wrong discussion item. I thought this was about lenses.

The 28x300mm almost never leaves my D800 unless it is replaced by my Sigma 150x600 for wild life.

Once a year I go to a summer Veterans picnic. Last year I met a professional photographer at that event. He had staged out a section with his tripod using his Nikon 70-200mm f2.8 attached to his Nikon D800e. It was not the latest $2800 version. His wife was up front among the audience shooting a Nikon D750 with a Nikon 24-70mm f2.8. He said if he returns the following year, he and his wife will use the same gear. Unless he upgraded to the newest version of the 70-200mm. Which has been proclaimed as the greatest 70-200mm f2.8 ever produced. I'll be taking as usual, a Nikon DX camera with one or two lenses. Handheld.

I live in Arizona and most of my shots are of landscapes and the wildlife out here. My workhorse is the AF-S NIKKOR 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6G ED VR. I don't care to change lenses and expose the camera interior to the dusty environment so I gear up at home and *usually* stick with the initial configuration. Very sharp lens, good bokeh, fast focus. It allows me to better frame a distance shot without having to crop when I need closeups.
