The spelling between British English & American English is little different in some words too!

For example:
(English) (American)

centre center
colour color
favour favor
defence defense
paediatric pediatric
catalogue catalog

These are only a few samples.

Watched a Nikon lens review on YouTube presented by 3 ladies from Great Briton.
I found it amusing to hear them pronounce the products name as Knee-Kon. 😮😁

I have always pronounced it as Ny-Kon. 🙂 You thoughts ?

Nikon is pronounced Knee-kon same as Nison (the car) is pronounced Nee-son. The "i" is pronounced like an "e"; same as in the romance languages which influenced Japaneese speech in using the alphabet. I laughed at a car salesman wearing a big cowboy hat pronouncing Nison as Ny-son. So the laugh is on you although the majority of englishmen do pronounce the camera "wrongly." Thank you for bringing this up as I get a bit frustrated everytime I hear the word "Nikon" prounounced using the long "i". These three ladies from Great Briton were VERY educated!

The car is actually a Nissan.......if we're being pedantic, as it appears many people are.

There are different regional pronunciation of may words and phrases throughout the country. I don't care how anyone pronounces N I K O N. Just as lonh as they do not say NUKE U LAR. as opposed to nuclear

Amen! Interestingly GWB only used "nu kyu lurr" when he spoke in America. In foreign speeches he pronounced it correctly.

I'm 72 but not too old to be corrected. I'm with the Japanese. Although, I have sold all my Nikon gear to my brother-in-law and bought a Sony a6000 which I am very happy with. I find that the Nikon lenses in general are superior to the Sony. The Samyang/Rokinon are much sharper but manual. The Sigma are generally superior overall to the Sony.
How should we say "Sony"?

The one I heard many years ago from a number of Asians sounded like "sunny". It was for audio products, but probably the same since it's the same company.
