A quick show of hands please. How many photographers here are also musicians? I find it interesting that so many people who are "artistic" often are so in more than one discipline. Ansel Adams was also a classically trained pianist, you have Ralph Gibson, and more recently people like Brian Adams, Nikki Sixx (no joke!), and Graham Nash. All are well known musicians and are also Photogs. My father was a photographer and jazz drummer who must have rubbed off on me because I'm also a musician in addition to being a photographer. My eldest son, who plays multiple instruments, also has a keen eye for photography.
I'm sure that there have been many studies on this, but I'm just wondering how many in our little community practice both arts.

Blues guitar on a Fender Strat played through a Fender 1 12 Super tube amp, mostly just for fun these days.

I own some instruments. I only play for my own enjoyment and certain that I suck compared to most "real" musicians. A Rickenbacker John Lennon Signature, a Pimentel Jumbo 12 string, a 1974 Martin D12-35 (my favorite) and a Hamilton Upright Piano.
John Lennon Signature Ric with Vox AC-30TB, Pimentel hand-made Jumbo 12-string, Hamilton Upright Grand
Vintage 1974 Martin D12-35
1974 Martin D12-35 (3-piece back)
I once fronted a band that played reggae, rock and blues. I was the lead singer, played guitar and percussion and wrote most of the material. I walked away from the stage when I realized I was never going to make a living doing it, but boy did I love it!

I do not play an instrument, but I am involved in other artistic endevors. I paint and do sketching.
Does that count?

Only if you hum while doing it! (or whistle).
I am a long-time French Horn player. Studied with Chicago Symphony hornists when young. Charter member of International Horn Society. Seldom paid, play for the love of music and the sound of the horn, which is just called "Horn" in languages other than English. Most of our horns now are German, or of German design.

I love the sound of a horn. I got to sit behind them in band. Such lovely tones.

I play Bass, Guitar, Banjo, Keyboards, drums and try at harmonica. I have played in Country / Rock bands for over 30 years. Not saying I am good, but I do enjoy it...
Tuba and Sousaphone are the instruments that I remember most; quite often because I was the only one or one of two that played them. Whenever I take a notion I can do a somewhat respectable job on the harmonica. Actually I can sing pretty well if I do say so. The caveat is that I'm not much good as a soloist, but I can do a good job of filling in the bass section of a choir.
