Maybe Nikon doesn't, that does not mean there is no personal Holy Trinity.

There is only one Nikon Holy Trinity--there can be no substitutions.
Personal favorites; DX or FX, or third party, are something else.

I agree with the reply offered by GoofyNewfie dated 04/02/17. I use the Nikon 17-55mm f2.8 DX lens with Nikon D300s body.
I am very happy with this combination. When I save enough fund and catch the GAS bug, I might upgrade to a Nikon D500 body with proper approval by the higher authority.

The Nikon 200-500mm is great on the D500 too. If I owned that camera, I would strive to own that lens. It would be very good on the D7100/7200 as well. About $1400. The 17-55mm is a better option than the 18-55mm. My original kit lens that I own from years past.

And the OP asked what is your Holy trinity.

My choices are:

Tamron SP 15-30mm f/2.8 Di VC USD
Tamron SP 24-70mm f/2.8 DI VC USD
Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 70-200mm f/2.8

Excellent choices. Especially the first two Tamrons. Matt Granger classified the Tamron 24-70mm lens as a pro level lens.

I use the 24-70 and the 70-200 frequently with the grandkids and their sports.

I don't have one in DX; all my lenses are FX. I like good glass.

My Trinity is:
f1.8 35mm
f4 12-24mm
f3.5 18-300mm
When I'm traveling I leave the 12-24 at home because the other 2 cover most everything I need.

Tokina is creeping up in popularity. The 11-16mm and the 100mm f2.8 macro have risen as third party requested lenses. As well as their 24-70mm. The Nikon 300mm f4. A great prime lens too. The 18-200mm, a good everyday general purpose type of lens. The 11-16mm, is good for landscapes on a crop sensor. I thought wide zooms were only appropriate for full frame. I have a change of mind now. Love your choices too.
