Of course, Paul Krugman, the Nobel Prize laureate in economics doesn't know as much about economics as you do. Say again what university you recieved your education in economics.

Obama was also one of your revered Nobel Prize laureates, which defines how legitimate the Nobel panel really is.

And the move is persistently toward non-coal generation, and coal will never reign again. Live with it.

I have no problem with replacing coal with other energy sources, but not by simply shutting down existing coal fired electric plants without a viable cost effective alternative at hand.
That is not what Obama did, he in his imperial wisdom decreed that coal use would stop, regardless of the consequences. The American public did not agree.

You neglected to mention just where you received Your education in Economics, as the poster asked.

So, you dispute Paul's education and Nobel Prize, challenge his knowledge and his considered stand, his facts and figures and experience, do you?

Perhaps you could exhibit your qualifications for such an evaluation.

Do you have Any experience in Economics, Any degree, Any published articles on the subject, any Books you've written or any Books You've Read on the subject?

Do you have any legitimate basis to question what he says? Any statistics? Any experience? Anything at all, except unmitigated gall in vomiting forth confusion, ignorance, disinformation and prejudice? Anything more than projecting naive political belief and consternation?

In other words, do you have anything--anything at all!--to add to the conversation among educated people who have formed responsible opinions and backed them up with information and study, and can this be disqualified by the supreme hubris of someone who carries a nightstick?

Really, Do You Have Something To Offer?

the reality of the matter is that fracking killed coal by seriously reducing the cost of natural gas... the free market economy

So you dispute his numbers? You dispute that natural gas is cheaper than coal? You dispute graphs demonstrating persistent and perpetual decline in use of coal over, say, the last 100 years? You dispute the number of miners in West Virginia, compared to the total population, or compared to health and service workers?

In West Virginia Coal WAS nearly the only issue on the ballot, if you remember--that's precisely the story Paul addresses.

On the other hand, Hillary seems to totally own you: the election was nearly five months ago, Hillary lost, and you can't forget her. You ascribe every bad thing that happens to Hillary, who Wasn't elected five months ago. She, of course, IS the reason Obamacare wasn't repealed, and she insisted on General Flynn being part of the Trump administration. She also insisted upon 100% communications and submission to the Russians, and also insisted that nepotism and corruption be a major part of the administration, and that the primary activity of the President be playing golf--paying himself to play at his own golf club at public espense and also paying a million dollars a day to keep his wife in NYC.

I didn't dispute a single thing you posted about the number of miners in West Virginia compared to the total population and so forth. All I said was that Paul Krugman is using this as an excuse for why Trump won West Virginia and the Nation. It makes him feel better to say the dumb Hillbillies don't know any better. If you make the stupid argument that COAL was the only thing on the ballot, then why did West Virginia vote for Obama in 2008 and 2012 after he made it clear that he would bankrupt the Coal Industry. Talk about voting against your own self interest, the Coal Unions even ENDORSED Obama in 2008 despite his declaration to bankrupt their industry.

The truth about the biggest factor in the decline of coal was pointed out by Mr. Green - Fracking for natural gas became a fierce competitor.

Sorry, I really don't care about your self aggrandizing academic snobbery, it gets old and means nothing other than you think you are better than others , and you call us bigots.
You should get to know George Ciccariello-Mahe, you and he would hit it off I'm sure.

Those damn liberals--Hillary expecially!--they ruin everything.

BTW we seem to have missed the new battle plan against ISIS, which was guaranteed 30 days after inauguration.

No matter what the numbers are, my opinion right now is that by the end of Tramps reign, all of these numbers will have changed.
At least on the west coast and certainly in Sunny CA there is a revolution going on to use self generated Solar Energy. Private homes, schools, business and government buildings at least all over this state are installing solar panels that not only produce a majority of the electricity used by the installer but channel any excess back to the grid.
Don't know to what extent this is happening in other states, but the potential is there to make a huge electrical generating difference and it's happening as we speak! Just saying

Yes, and they will eventually go bankrupt like Germany's power industry, who also tried to "go green."

No, you didn't dispute it, you ignored it. If you derail a serious discussion by imputing the author's intention, I think you need some sort of documentation detailing how you know more about the author's intention than he seems to.

How do you know, or even suspect, that it makes him feel better to refer to citizens as 'dumb hillbillies' who 'don't know any better?"

Has he taken you into his confidence about just how he feels? Or are you projecting? Can it be that he was smart enough to say what he thinks, and that perhaps his analysis was unburdened by sarcasm or derision, and his column was a result of analysis and informed opinion?

And, if he was concerned, confused or alarmed or just observing that people voted against their better interests, is it right to think less of him?

Coal was certainly the main issue on that ballot, and Trump made grandiose promises about a new ers of "clean coal" that he would bring to the region. It was never going to happen.

Obama did not bankrupt the industry, as it was dead or dying even then. Obama acted to reduce emissions he felt were dangerous to the world, and science agrees and reaffirms it with him.

Remember, the election we are talking about is 2016, and that was the election Trump made his futile, dishonest and misleading promises--and it paid off for him, didn't it?

I can say whatever I think about Krugman's intentions, just like he said about the dumb Hillbillies in West Virginia and their intentions, just like you imputed about "Trump's dishonest and misleading promises." You continue to insist that COAL was the main issue in West Virginia when one of Krugman's main points was that the Coal Industry is so small nowadays compared to health workers that it should be a non-issue. Perhaps you should re-read the article.

********.
...........and you are a better judge of who should qualify for the Nobel Prize and who shouldn't. Maybe you should write a letter to the committee explaining to them that because of their previous errors that you are available to make these decisions for them in the future........or you could tell them that in the future only conservatives should be awarded the Nobel Prize.

In this case he might actually be a better judge than the Nobel Judges. What did Obama do particularly to win the Nobel Peace Prize?
