I have copy of the David Busch guide to the A6000 that I offered for sale a few months back but the person did not come through with the cash. I think I paid $30 for it will sell it to you for $20 and include a spare 3rd party battery and charger. PM me if interested. I am willing to sell this since I no longer own the A6000.

Isn't there an on line manual available to get started?

I would recommend the Creative Live A6000 Fast Start Class. John Greengo is an excellent instructor. The premise of his Quick Start courses is that he reads the manual and translates the features and jargon into usable information on how to put the camera to best use. Creative Live allows you to view the course on line and to download it for viewing at your leisure.

I have the David Busch's "Sony a6000/ILCE-6000 Guide to Digital Photography" and have used it some but I would recommend searching on YouTube.....many many videos concerning the a6000.

I would suggest that you set your A6000 to P mode and go shoot for a couple of weeks. Forget Costco for now. The best way to learn is to use the equipment. I carried two A6000 around Turkey for a week and shot over 1000 images. Camera did a great job.

That was my first weapon, as well. Gary Fong has an excellent series on it. He, also, has a bunch on YouTube explaining the whole setup. That is where I got started getting into the nitty gritty. Good luck!

Great camera. Books: Gary Friedman The Complete Guide to Sony's A6000 Camera. I have the Kindle version which even without a decent index or TOC gave me lots of good information. But I recommend the paper version because it's hard to look things up in the Kindle. David Busch also has a couple of books for the a6000. Unfortunately they are aimed at the P&S crowd more than prosumers.

The Sony camera engineers have really done a great job on all their offerings. I wish NiCan would put real effort into MILC, but alas. . .

Sony has a real instruction manual posted on the web for download. Others seem to be going that way. I'm glad Nikon still packs a real book.

David Busch's Sony a6000/ILCE-6000 is an excellent book-- far better than anything Sony publishes. It will tell you almost everything you need to know about the camera. You can find the book on-line for a reasonable price.

Here is another recommendation for Gary Friedman's book. He is great with follow-up if you need him. He answers questions quickly and takes time to give you the answers you need.
