Toss it... Cost to repair it couldn't possibly beat the cost of a new one. And, you are still money-ahead doing that over initially buying a Nikon speedlight.

To the trash can unfortunately. Hopefully you get a couple years of work out of each. One reason they are so cheap.

My YN568EX quit syncing in the middle of a shoot. It doesn't work on either D7100 so I know it's not the camera. I can find no repair facility on the internet. Do any of you Yongnuo owners know where I can send it or is it a throw-away?

Dbez1,

You have faced the same general problem as many others who have purchased a decent product from a Chinese manufacturer who is trying hard to open a market in the US. For the majority if photographers the flash performs very well, but occasionally something fails, it's Murphy's Law.
For your specific problem you could contact the manufacturer if you spoke and could write Mandarin, short of that check the user manual that came with your flash to be sure everything is set correctly in camera and on the external flash. Page 42 is the only reference I could find, the rest must be with the camera settings.

Did you try checking the batteries/ I would put fresh batteries in each unit first before you throw it away.

I have 5 for 3 years now. All have worked flawlessly. Even dropped one an it came apart but still works!
If you have one that is critical (HSS or the 560IV master). Buy 2 . All my speedlights added up equal the cost of 1 Canon branded light. If you need the extra speed of power recycle readiness at full power or "consistency of color" than pay the 6x cost. Id rather put my money in lenses and light modifiers...

Probably be better off just getting a new one. Try the YN-685, I have two of them and use them with my D7100, no problems what so ever. They also have the wireless receiver already in them. I also got the YN-622-TX wireless controller, it works great also.

Thanks all for your input. I think I'll take your advice and toss it. This time though, I''m going to buy a used Nikon 900 Speedlight off eBayfor around $200. I realize I'm taking a chance there also but I've always had good service out of my Nikons.

I had the same problem with one of them and the manufacturer is happy to fix it for free, but shipping cost more than a new one.

Last I checked, there is an Amazon seller providing US repairs (probably replacements).

I'd order another one from Amazon then email the seller about the problem with your old one and ask the seller how to send the old one for repair. I bought one 18 months ago and after 6 months it wouldn't flash. I emailed the seller and he advised a mailing address in CA. He then sent it to China and I received a new unit within approximately a week.

Suggest going on eBay for a used Nikon speed light. A much better unit even when lightly used as most on eBay are and far more useful and reliable than any third party unit.

Thanks. That's what I did and picked one up for $205.

That would be a waste of good batteries!
(Sorry, Tim. I couldn't resist. Welcome to the 'hog)

is it not showing any sign of life? if not it could be the battery compartment the springs get bent down. if you get some foil you can use it in place of the battery door and hold the batteries in and see if it powers up be a bit fiddly but, that was the only problem i had with mine seemed dead but i used some foil and found it was just the contacts gone slack.
