I have used the Eagle mount Jim linked to, for about a year now with two different cars and it works excellent!
I use it with a Nikon D500 and Sigma 150-600 Sport (looks like the image below) and it is no problem with the stability.

Highly recommended!

Thanks,

My advise, roll the window down to your personal comfort height, put a bean bag over the edge of the glass and rest your camera lens on the bean bag. MAKE SURE YOUR ENGINE IS TURNED OFF, WILL ADD BAD VIBRATIONS.

I concur with this post as I read your need. Many places have similar devices.

There have been reports of cracked windows using these devices on cold days. Depending on the angle of the lens it can put a lot of stress on the edge of the glass. BEWARE.

Manfrotto makes a unit which attaches to the window, and you can then attach a ball head to it.

Yes it can, more a matter of off center weight though.
I have used one in the past and never a problem.
Just be intelligent and thinking as you use it.

Yes, that looks interesting. Might just have to be careful with power windows. For two reason (think about it).

Thanks,

The pod part of My Bodypod doubles as a carpod when used between the carseat and door while resting on the floor. - it works very well in this regard !

I will be listing these for sale here on the Hog in a day or two - look for "Bodypod/Carpod" .....

I second the bean bag or split pipe insulator.

Or this one.

I do not recommend resting on beanbags either - too easy to inadvertently change zoom or focus ......

Same here. It cost about $3 for 5-feet of insulation, so I cut it and use some in both family cars. The only thing I have heard about window mounts is that the windows are not built with the idea of adding weight to them. A heavy lens may cause the window to dislodge from the mounting of the window, itself. I do not know of anyone that has actually had a problem with that, but it is something to think about. The "long" lens I use is a Nikon 80-400mm zoom, and not terribly heavy, compared to the 150-600mm models.
