Due to medical issues and age (73), I am becoming very limited with my mobility. I find myself taking photos from my car, parking lots or road sides. Do any of you Hedgehogs have recommendation for a tripod that I can attach to my car window? I just order a Tamron 150-600 for my Sony A77ii.

Thanks,

I would be interested in the answers also. I asked a similar question several weeks ago. One answer was to slice up a noodle swimming aid and put it over the glass edge and then rest the lens on the noodle. What is good about that suggestion is that you can adjust the window to whatever height you want. Another was to use a seed or sand bag. IMO both are good ideas; but I like the noodle better because it is lighter and more portable.

Although it is not a tripod I have a device
that laps over your car door and attaches
to the camera like a tripod. Today I am at
my daughter's in another State but can send you the info Monday (13th) if you
still need it. This device is for wildlife
photography primarily. Ted Evans
get contact info from UHH.

I have one that I have had for about 8 years or so called the "Ergo Rest", its a fantastic unit and built to last forever, unfortunately they went out of business about 4 years ago but they do pop up on Ebay occasionally. (Its a mount only, you have to add a head.)
I also use the "Puffin Pad". Again, they went out of business about 2 years ago but they are a very lightweight, effective, and economical option if you can find one used somewhere. The entire Puffin Pad business is for sale VERY reasonably if anyone had the price of a mid-sized car to invest into buying it. Many people would LOVE to see them being made again.

Bushnell makes a window mount tripod that B & H Photo sells for $16.99. I tried to post the link, but couldn't get it to copy, sorry.

Carter, the Jet on-line catalog shows an "Eckla Camfix Window Mount" that looks exactly like your "Ergo Rest" version. They list it for approx.. $175usd. Too bad about Puffin, I use mine all the time.

I just use a short piece of pipe insulation, roll down the window a bit and slip it over the window. It makes for a good rest for a lens and/or other things!

I would avoid anything that clamps to the window, while car windows seem hard to break a small amount of pressure at the edge of the glass is all it takes for the glass to go to pieces. Save your money on the noodle, buy a length of split foam pipe insulation at your local home depot or a like store, just leave the protective tape on the sticky edge.
