I'm looking for a good instructional or tutorial book to learn how to use Photoshop for photogophers. I have experience with adobe Lightroom. I've read reviews on
the PS Bible by Dayley, PS for photographers by Martin evenings or PS by Scott Kelby. If you have a recommendation i would be most appreciative.

There are a TON of tutorials on youtube plus a bunch of others online. No need to buy a book. I like the online stuff and youtube because I can bookmark them and refer back to them anytime I want.

I found the Classroom in a book worked for me. Step by step instructions using photos they supply. It barely scratches the surface of Photoshop capabilities but I found it useful. The large thick books were overwhelming for me and when stuck I had much better luck with Googling. Much better. A subscription to Lynda really worked well for me

Lynda.com is a great resource , monthly subscription but no commitment beyond a month and loads of structured course on it .

Quite right. For me, I like the option of having a book. I can read and then do what I want to do. The book is open the software is open. I just find it more convenient. Your local library might have something close to what you want.

Forget the book unless you have CS6. The CC version changes so often that books can't keep up with it. I recommend two sources for online instruction: Adobe and lynda.com. Adobe is free, and lynda is free for a week and is then just $25 for a whole month. They both have excellent videos. There is so much online instruction available, some good and some horrible, that finding instruction is easy.

There are thousands of options on PS--overwhelming at first. I suggest starting simple with Kelby's book PHOTOSHOP FOR LIGHTROOM USERS, then his book THE ADOBE PHOTOSHOP CC BOOK (or earlier version if you don't have CC), then check out the Lynda.com videos for more in-depth learning, finally (what I am currently doing) slowly work your way through ADOBE PHOTOSHOP CC BIBLE--THE COMPREHENSIVE TUTORIAL RESOURCE. Good luck!

Al,
Providing you have one nearby, check your local library. Mine has tons of PS books - free!! After finding one that fits your needs, you can purchase it.

For me, video instruction is best..I can start and stop, replay. I initially started with what I think is a very good PS CC tutorial by creativeraw.com and from there found online videos on the areas I wanted to concentrate on. His videos are simple, pretty detailed and he keeps adding to his list. and you can fast forward if you find it a bit wordy or you already know that particular thing. You do have to purchase his series but it is a lifetime purchase. He will also respond to any questions you might have.
