If you look at that sales posting, the D7200 is NOT sold by Walmart, it is sold by "DIGITAL DIRECT" a very well known grey market Ebay seller.
I am well aware and that's why I posted the original link. The link also contained Walmart's disclaimer. I then went out on the sellers site and linked that. Similar situations occur with sub tier vendors who advertise on Amazon and if you click on them it shifts you directly to their site, which Amazon also alerts you to. The second seller on Walmart was Tri State Camera who is also a grey market EBay seller and in addition has their own store site and I showed that link. Some reputable dealers also ship merchandise even though the transaction is handled by Amazon. One example is Adorama. Why would anybody use Amazon for an Adorama sale? If you have an Amazon card you can get 5% back or interest free payments...
Edited due to these vendors handling the transaction.

Not exactly correct, Nikons USA Body serial numbers actually start at "25XXXXX" and go through "39XXXXX".
Carter, it's even more complicated than that.....
"Nikons
D7100 USA Body serial numbers actually start at "25XXXXX" and go through "39XXXXX".
http://www.dslrbodies.com/cameras/camera-articles/nikon-camera-serial-numbers.html"Since the US D7100 number comes after the initial number for the much smaller Japanese market, it makes some sense to "steal" some of the Japan numbers. But also oddly, we’re now seeing that a lot of other country serial numbers don't tend to have a 0 as a second digit, which is another departure for Nikon. As I keep updating this article, Nikon keeps shifting to a very problematic (for customers) method of uniquely identifying region, especially in Europe, where they’re using previously Canadian and Australian numbers (e.g. 51xxxxx and 61xxxxx), and in Asia/Pacific, where they now use 6xxxxxx, 7xxxxxx,"
Using Nikons current RATIONALE, I would guess that anything over X5XXXXXmay be suspect. And, not to be too much of a conspiracy theorist, Wally World is a big enough company to try to get away with making its own counterfeit boxes and warranty paperwork just to fool the public. A few years ago, a very well known cellular phone manufacturer tried to get away with a similar trick in Canada; a simple, but important slip-up blew up in their faces, resulting in millions of dollars in corrections.
Walmart stores and Walmart.com are nikon authorized dealers.
But, Walmart.com also lists for others, like Amazon.
The listing for a D7200 for $788 indicates that it is sold and shipped by Digital Direct. They are not on the authorized Dealer list.
Possibly gray market.

Leaving my Nikon SLR behind for good. Time for digital (and not just my iPhone!). Getting ready to purchase a D7200 body. Saw online at Walmart for $788.95. Seemed too good to be true so I called. They claim it is a US warranty camera with full English manual - not gray market. Nikon & Amazon list at $999, so I'm skeptical.
Excited to get on the D-train!
Anyone know for sure, or how to confirm its not gray?
When Walmart does closeouts on camera items you can get some real deals. Check the side of the box for warranty, warranty card should also be in the box and will be for US market.
Come on people Wal-mart dose not sell gray market stuff, If thats what you want buy it

Directly from the ad:
"Important Made in USA Origin Disclaimer: For certain items sold by Walmart on Walmart.com, the displayed country of origin information may not be accurate or consistent with manufacturer information. For updated, accurate country of origin data, it is recommended that you rely on product packaging or manufacturer information."
You won't know until you see the (verified unopened) box.
That statement only addresses country of origin. It has nothing to do with warranty. Since Nikon does not make cameras in the US it really is meaningless.
My money is on the camera being grey market, based on the price and actual seller. An authorized dealer can't drop the price without Nikon's approval, and that would apply to all dealers, not just WalMart.
Edit: Is this model on the list of cameras that Nikon USA will service, even if grey market? If it is then I see no risk in buying it.
OK again WalMart dose NOT sell grey market after so many days they start marking stuff down
Quoting UK sales regulations if you bought from Wallmart in England your contract is with Wallmart who would be obliged to honour the 1 year warranty they state the product comes with. So if a problem occurred you take it back to the store who will get it repaired or replace it. They cannot use a get out clause such as "covered by manufacturers warranty" and side step their responsibility.
Is this different under American consumer protection laws? If it is contact Trumpy and tell him to stop concentrating on kicking out Mexicans and give you folks some proper cover when you buy something.
Go to Customer Q&A in the ad. Andy asks if it is a USA model and gets the answer, "no" from "dissatisfied." Perhaps that will clarify things even more.

Yes, I saw that. What's odd is that for fun I went to Check-Out and had to sign in to my Walmart account and they appear to handle the trnsaction, but there was no sales tax charged. Also, why isn't this cute little disclaimer put on all the items Walmart sells that are not made in the USA?
I must be bored....in the last four years I have purchased a dozen plus lenses, four cameras and pretty well know my way around.
