A very pleasant weekend at the wetlands. Many birds in their breeding plumage (green around the eyes is typical). The pair of baby limpkins from December have survived and are fully-fledged. Some large gators now. Lots of visitors walk around here, so the larger gators will probably be taken out soon. It only takes one person letting their toddler play at the edge of the water to create a catastrophe - people just don't appreciate how fast these behemoths can move when they want to grab something to eat. The least bittern is probably the most asked-about bird here. There are quite a few of them here, but they can be hard to spot - they fly from the outside of one clump of reeds to the outside of another and immediately disappear into the midst of the reeds. It takes some skill and a lot of luck to see one.
The last image was as good as a second cup of coffee for getting me awake today.
Great shots. I like the second to last image with the bird so well camouflaged.

Nice assortment of locals! You got the difficult ones as well as the easier ones!

I love the eyes in 1 and 2. The gator is awesome too. It does look rather large and powerful. gary
