No, I am not considering any of the new Canon models.

I a looking at the 77D as a backup to my 80D, or companion body. If I ever procure another body my 80D will stay with me. It is, as far as I am concerned one great crop body. So if Canon say comes out with a 90D and I could afford it I may get it to be my base body and keep the 80D as a companion and backup. What I used to do was carry to film 35mm cameras with different lenses so I just switched camera for different needs. It is not really required anymore with digital (or not required as much) since so much can be done with PP. I still see a need for a backup to the 80D if I ever need to let it go to a repair shop. I do baby my equipment so I am not that worried but I still consider it to be a valid reason to spend $1000 or so.

77d I have not heard of? Please explain
Better to let Canon tell you about it.
I am looking for a rebel to stick in my purse for family outings, my 7DMII is too big for that. I like this new T7i because it has the touch screen where you can change your focus points with your finger on the screen while your looking through the view finder! Sounds like a fun thing to try!! I'm not sold on the mirrorless - I'm too much of an Optical View Finder lover - plus canon does not have enough fun lenses for their mirrorless yet. But reviews have been very good for the M5... I'm sure the M6 with the new 5 axis thing will be super nice

I have yet to figure out how you can have your face up to the back of your camera looking through the viewfinder and be able to change the focus point on the touch screen at the same time.

I found the M6 interesting as it is the same spec as the M5 except for the viewfinder and flash. Both have the 5 axis sensor for IS only during video recording. I will still continue saving for the M5 or if a better one comes out when I have the funds get it. I am looking at these for using my FD lenses with full metering etc as on the M5 and no optical correction.

I saw a Youtube video on it - you drag your thumb around the top right corner of the LCD to navigate the focus point - it might be awkward, but I do want to try it.

I took a look at the M6, but I really don't have much interest in mirrorless. The only advantage I see is that it is somewhat smaller and lighter then my DSLR's. Not much of a factor to me, plus, I always use the viewfinder, not the LCD screen. If you want a viewfinder on the M6, you have to buy it separately. I think I'll stick with my DSLR's.
For not much more, just $70.00, I'd consider the M5, which has a larger LCD screen and an electronic viewfinder.
I plan on replacing my EOS M3 with the EOS M6 but will not be pre-ordering. I will wait until the initial rush <chuckle> is over.

That's what I wish I'd done when I upgraded from the 7D to the 7DII. I had GAS so bad I just had to pre-order the 7DII and ended up paying about $300 more than I would have if I'd waited a year.
The T7i is the usual annual Rebel upgrade from the T6i. The most obvious improvement is 45-point AF (compared to 19-point). Essentially, where the T6i got the 70D's AF system, the T7i has a inherited the 80D's AF system (except I don't think it's "f8 capable" on the T7i). It's also getting Dual Pixel CMOS.
The 77D is superseding for the T6s... So it's basically it's the same as the T7i in most respects, but with more direct access controls and an additional LCD display (the same way the T6s was a closely related step up from the T6i).
M6 mirrorless is pretty much an M5 without the M5's built-in viewfinder.... Instead there's an optional, accessory electronic viewfinder offered for it. That makes the M6 body more compact than the M5. And the M6 body alone is $200 cheaper than the M5... Unless you want the EVF-DC2 viewfinder, too, which costs $250 and ends up costing a little more than the M5. Since the EVF sits in the camera's hot shoe, you can't use it and an accessory flash at the same time.
None of the three new models have any real appeal to me.... maybe the M6. But I'm more likely to consider an M5 with a few cool primes, as a compact everyday/street camera kit.

Get the FD adapter and there are many excellent primes from R, FL and FD series lenses. Full metering as well. Just manual focus.
It seems in the past few years that a Canon camera is 'new' for about 2 months.
I'll stick with my T5i for some time to come. Yes, the T7i has some improvements, but not enough to make me shell out any cash at this time.
