Yep, went out and did it ...bought a Kodak z990. Impressed to a point, that being slow as molasses lag /recovery time, and not exceptional battery life with Kodak supplied batteries. What to do with lag time ? Read in UHH that someone heard from Kodak that camera was built around 6gb for optimum performance ...right?
What's the longest life battery available ? Any li-ions ? Can CR123 be made to work with an adapter slug to fill up short length ? Thanks.

Hey Doc ..... to fix the lag time and have a longer battery life ..... sell it and buy a Canon ..... you get what you pay for

eveready lithiums will last alot longer then regular alkilines. cost more but you save in the long run. lag time you are stuck with. You can cut it down by keeping your finger on the shutter release pushed half down. camera will prefocus and save you a little time.
Thanks...if I had wanted to be a mee-too, I would have purchased a Canon. The results of this Z990 are amazing !
Guess I'll keep the 160 mph , $60,000 Corvette, instead of the 160 mph $250,000.00 Ferrari .
Maybe I'll sell it to you and then buy a goat.

Thanks for the reply and info. Was also hoping that someone had found 1.2 rechargeable Li-ion.

You can get a 66 GTO(goat) for $20K someone would have to be mentally deficient to give you more than $150 for a used Kodak z990.

That model of Kodak is one of their worst ones on the market right now. Their smaller point and shoot are nice quality but even have a bad lage time.

Hey Doc ..... if you tink the corvette is on the same plateau as a ferrari you should buy a ..... donkey
Pound for pound, dollar for dollar, the Corvette is a much better buy, and it can be serviced at any Chevy dealership.
They both can run 200mph. My paltry 'ole 1959 Vette would do 140 in third gear with a four speed box ...but then,as with everything, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

P.S. Thanks for all of the helpful and anecdotes .

Hey Doc ..... eveready lithiums are 1.5volts and Not rechargeable ..... but Nimh work pretty darn well even in a kodak
Last night I watched a TV show from 2002. Talking about a car, the presenter said, "It's like one of those new digital cameras. You push the button and then have to wait for it to take the picture." I remember the lag was pretty universal back then.
If it is really important to you, such as with moving objects,
you can switch from single to continuous focus. Also, if you
only just got your camera, it may seem like a "battery eater" at first but start to keep the charge in your NiMh
batteries afte you have charged them several times.Bear in mind that if you go to continuos focus, use flash, use screen instead of viewfinder, choose brightness instead of battery saving viewable image, these choices will all result in using up your battery power faster.

I found that the best way to have longer battery life was not to keep turning the camera on and off between shots...let it go into sleep mode and it will wake up again when you push the shutter button down part way. At least that's how it works on my camera. By the way, you can buy one Corvette and send me the extra $190,000. I could use a house.

Hey Doc ..... if your fast enough you can half a horse for free ..... no ones able to catch it
With the Canon point & shoot I used before buying my Nikon D3000, I got around the problem of lag time when shooting sports photos by shooting in continuous mode. I ended up with a lot of extra photos, but memory cards aren't that expensive and it's not like I had to pay for processing each photo. I got some nice shots of my nephew pitching at a baseball tournament using that method.
