I have the Adobe CC and love the fact that I get automatic updates at no extra cost. I calculated that by having CC I have saved money over buying each update.

Agree if you're also using PhotoShop. If like some people, you are using just Lightroom the CC subscription is significantly more expensive than paying for standalone upgrades to LR were. At less than $100 per upgrade for the 2+ year life of a version, the annual cost was a bit less than $50 per year vs $120 for the CC version. Now for those who also use PS CC, the per month cost is very reasonable and a real bargain.

Adobe does a Feature comparison between the v6 cc and v6 standalone and v5.71 versions.

To be fair some of the 'features' are a bit of a reach e.g "learn from a library of video tutorials" thats a CC feature, seriously Adobe. They don't mention the 'red eye for animals' tool which is new in cc and v6 and v6 standalone gets 2 features over v5 namely panorama and facial recognition. Panorama's I addressed with Affinity Photo and Facial Recognition with Picassa and a tag import tool.

Haze a cc exclusive that's also in Affinity Photo and you can add presets to V6 for haze. Adobe didn't add the slider to v6 but as ACR is the same version as in CC the presets work.

Some of the mobile editing tools are available anyway e.g lightroom for android I have installed on a tablet, is in the app store. It is limited because of the lack of ram on the tablet (to be fair my tablet has a 1080p screen same resolution as my desktop).
Web Gallerys are also in v5, maybe adobe forgot. Working with photoshop cc , well not actually exclusive that you get the cc version of lightroom when you subscribe doesn't stop you from using v5 or v6 standalone. If you have CS6 (or perhaps Affinity Photo or other pixel editor) they are equally valid for all 3 versions. Syncing across mobile devices iCloud for 1 option if you want that. I'm sure microsoft also has 'cloud' features you can use.

The only negative for V6 over V5 is they dropped support for lion and for 1 of my macs that is a problem since I can't upgrade it (I have 4 more that can run v6). Adobe refused to sell me v5( or let me downgrade v6) so i bought v5 from Amazon on DVD (mac & windows versions). The 64 bit V6 is slightly faster than v5 at some things (according to reviews I have read). I haven't seen any issue with v5 not using my RAM I have 16GB on my Macbook Pro so there seems no 32 bit limitation. Anyway here is the feature list 1 tick is cc 2 ticks cc and v6 and 3 ticks cc, v6, and v5. (there is only one deadline that you have to beat to subscribe at anytime in the future, so why do it now?).

Well, dumbass, maybe he is like me and wants to utilize both. It comes in handy to have both. I use lightroom cc for my large and what I consider important work and don't want to screw around with "premature cataloging". In the meantime I may do a shoot of a birthday party or just whoring around. I put that kind of crap into my lightroom 5.7 program Lightroom 5.7 is still a powerful program, so why get rid of it?

I just create another catalog in LR CC when I shoot an event. When I'm ready I import the 2nd catalog into my main catalog and move the images onto my long term storage system.

OP, ignore silva. He mostly acts like the southbound end of a northbound mule.Yes you can keep both. Where you will have a problem is that you will need to keep the Lightroom catalogs separate to continue using LR 5 after you load the LR CC. Default is for LR CC to kidnap the Lightroom 5 catalog and use it as it's own.

You gain nothing! I put CC on after 5 and the install is trivial meaning you do nothing. Everything you did in 5 will be ok in 6.
