47th St. Photo
That makes the most sense. Thank you.
OK Wayne. I thought I had read something bad about them but didn't think about past topics. Thanks for your info.

Many people writing these reviews are encouraged to do so by the sellers. And some may not know the difference between grey market and USA Warranty items, especially if the very nice salesman on the phone tells them they are exactly the same camera sold anywhere. For those who do know the difference between grey market and USA warranties, they may still choose to bite the bullet and go for it, trusting the brand to work well. Assuming they never need the warranty, they come out ahead. I would always want a USA manufacturers warranty so I look for other ways to save, such as manufacturer refurbished. To each his own.

47th Street Photo does not have any accreditation from the Better Business Bureau. Which in this case, means they are not a member. I do know that Walmart used them as a seller for some of their online orders like cheap Opteka lenses. They are not the same as 42nd Street Photo, which has a very bad reputation on this forum. If you are only buying an accessory kit and not a camera, you may not get burned so much on this one. You didn't say the price of the accessory kit. What does it contain?
BBB is useless. Do not think bad of a business not listed or has had a complaint against it.
About ten years ago BBB and attorney General together acted and closed as much as 100 online stores (many of them same owners doing business in multiple names) which supposed to be bait and switch operations and scams. Number of these stores reopened under different names. Do the search on the name and you will find what you want to know.

The crook told me outright the Sigma lens was US, not gray, and I would see the US warranty card when I opened the box. When I wanted it checked, they told me I had to send it to them and not Sigma. I called Sigma and not only did they never receive the lens, they told me that based upon the serial number, it was gray and 42nd Street was not an authorized dealer. The website said it was. The NYC commission protecting consumers did nothing about my formal complaint.
If 42nd Street were honest, you would see them here like you see Hershel from B&H and Adorama's rep.

I used 47th Street back in the 70's and early 80's they were great to deal with. I have a lot of Minolta lenses and gear from them. All of a sudden they seemed to disappear.

What a way to do business!
No what it once was. Stay away
I'm a "Old timer" New York City former resident since childhood, and remember the days before "mail-order" purchases.... We had Great Camera stores Like "Willoughby's" and Peerless Camera"... 2nd to none in quality, inventory, selection, brand names, repairs on site, would sell only authorized products, 7 day returns-exchanges, Weekly rentals of top gear to "try before you buy".....staff of retired photographers... all expert (or so it seemed!)
Great price and service on used gear from "trade in's/Up"....... Those are now bygone days.........The mail order stores
Recommended by the contributing members are in most cases the twins of the stores I've just written about from my heyday......Stick with them (even if it costs a few bucks more---Mail order does not operate on outrageous margins.....) Good luck...... I'm glad I found this site...... Hi all !!! Ginovino... interests, Astronomy, Audio, Ham radio, Photography, music -What else is there ?????

I had good experiences buying from 47th St. Photo -- 45+/- years ago! A lot of water under the bridge and over the dam since then, including the complete wiping out of the original store. Adorama, et al, often have excellent deals so deal with them.
I always say as a joke, They're fantastic, according to their advertising. But, actually it was some low cost items that kind of popped up. Fisheye lens, filter lenses, 2.2 and cleaning access. But, I think I do know better. It's like the girls used to say, "If you want quality, you gotta pay for it". But thanks for your reply, I appreciate it and I'm gonna stick with the Big Boys. Adorama, etc.
Thanks Magicman. I'm gonna stay away!
I know the Adorama store intimately !!!!!!( a husband & wife team) They were a small store-front in a "strip mall" on 'Sunrise hwy" in Nassau county, New York. Stopped in there many times, traded-up a few older units, (Exacta slr (non-meter), Speed Graphic 4x5, Pre-built-in meter Honeywell-Pentax, Minox-mini, Keystone (tri-lens 8mm & projector,) old Color Poloroid, and I forget what else....moved up to a used Leica ( wow!)..... Now all Canon, lenses, motor drives, backs - Digital & 35mm,... Same for my Nikons... Just started ASTRO-photography...A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE !!!!!! LEARN ALL OVER AGAIN !
