Just go to Bing or Google and search on 47th street photo and read. I'm sure you will find all you need to know...

47th St. or 42nd St.?
42nd Street Photo is a scam outfit, don't know about 47th Street.

Here's a paragraph from a previous reply to another hogger:

47th Street Photo still exists. The company name was purchased at the company's bankruptcy auction way back when. I see the name on eBay selling photo stuff. The new outfit is located in Brooklyn. Here's a couple of NY Times articles about the demise of the original company: <http://www.nytimes.com/1992/01/22/business/47th-st-photo-files-for-bankruptcy.html > and <http://www.nytimes.com/1997/03/27/nyregion/with-questionable-future-47th-st-photo-closes-doors.html?_r=0>.

Hope this helps. Ed

47th Street Photo does not have any accreditation from the Better Business Bureau. Which in this case, means they are not a member. I do know that Walmart used them as a seller for some of their online orders like cheap Opteka lenses. They are not the same as 42nd Street Photo, which has a very bad reputation on this forum. If you are only buying an accessory kit and not a camera, you may not get burned so much on this one. You didn't say the price of the accessory kit. What does it contain?

Back in the 80's 47th street was a good dealer. I bought many things from them. But I didn't buy anything online for more than 20 years after that so I don't know. They may not be the same company any more.

It used to be excellent - when it was a walk-in store on 47th St. I bought quite a bit from them in the old days. Now? Who knows? Same name, different business plan. There are lots of other places to buy. I never shop for photo gear by price.

How many times are we going to be discussing all these places where we can save a few pennies.
Buy from reliable dealers like Adorama, Hunt, Cameta B&H just to mention a few of them.
Do not risk your money and have peace of mind.
