On Andrew Gibson's website you can obtain some excellent materials on both subjects for free.

Hi Timepass,

Is your question in relation to the process of working with the Cloud concept or in relation to working with the programs within the Cloud concept? You don't say if you've attempted to use the programs yet. Both LR and PS reside on your computer, not in some vaporous cloud. You simply download them as you would any other program and the applications go into your Applications folder. To open a program, you click on it (I assume PC's use this, too, as I am a Mac user). Once you open the LR application you see a blank application page. LR can be complicated for people. It is best to read up on the importing process (think "linking") prior to beginning. It's a great program if you take the time to learn about it prior to using it. Many people have suggested good info. Know that the Scott Kelby books jump around a lot and can focus on things like weddings and people; he is not my favorite LR author. Other writers take a more linear approach, starting from the beginning and moving through the program. The Adobe videos, J. Kost, are short and to the point and she does a good job of providing information-her link is http://blogs.adobe.com/jkost/lightroom-training-videos. Don't even think about using PS right now, learn LR and then progress to PS at a later date. LR is for assisting you in organizing your photos and then editing and printing them, among other things, and will meet about 90% of your post processing needs. Good luck.

CreativeLive video tutorials by Ben Willmore are fairly inclusive. Best part is being able to watch them over and over til you know the information. His specialty is file organization. Lots of info on that subject.

There are actually a bunch of good websites for novice (and intermediate) LR users -- and this is just a few I know of):

http://lightroom-blog.com/
https://www.lightroomforums.net/
http://blogs.adobe.com/lightroomjournal/
http://www.davidmarx.com/
http://lightroomsolutions.com/
http://lightroomers.com/
https://nicolesyblog.com/ (heavily On1, however)

and, of course, this:

I find that Photoshop Lightroom Classroom in a Book is worth its weight in silver. Those CIBs are usually pretty good when I am trying to learn a new system or program. Have fun.

Spend the price of one book, and join Lynda.com and gain access to about a million tutorials of every software out there. Adobe products have extensive representation there. I was a die hard book guy and I came kicking and screaming to learning software this wAy. But I soon thank realized that it is the quickest and best way to get up to speed on any software. And I make a living on graphic software since the late 80's. I have sadly recycled more thick beautiful software books, that became obsolete in one year....

I find watching someone do something, following along with the exercise files more like having an instructor. Don't get me wrong, a reference book is invaluable, but even they are soon dated and online versions seem better.

Note that the tutorials are arranged as generalized, then other tiles tackle just certain aspects.

One subscription gets you access to their entire library- un restricted! Titles are released constantly.... listen to me... uggg - I'm a print designer- but that's technology and it moves too fast nowadays.
