I am using a D600 currently and a D80 that i will never give up because of the CCD sensor . The D600 has poor low light even with a 50mm f1.4 nikon ....

You might want to get your D600 in for repair if you think your D80 is better in low light.

I did until I purchased the D500. Gave away the D300 to a friend of mine.

The D300 is heavier, but that's because of the style of the camera. A lot of people still use the D300. Until recently we did also for use with our DX lenses. We sold it to a lady new to digital photography with a couple of lenses and loves it. Best camera she ever had. We replaced it with the D7200 which is better for our needs but. can't forget about all the weddings we did with the D300.

I have a D300S and yes I do use it. Love the crop sensor. I don't have GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome) to get rid of it and buy a mirrorless.Happy New Year

No i like the D80 because of the color rendition cbecause of the CCD sensor. The D600 is a great camera when shooting with ample light but i like to photo my grandchildren and the flash is anoying even if i use an external flash. Looks like the D750 for me ..... i hope

D500 is light years ahead of most currently offered cameras (with the exception of the D5 that is).

You might want to take a gander at this post I made. Non scientific or anything like that, just sloppy real world...

As technology and camera imaging moves forward I gave up my D300 for the D500. The difference is night and day, literally in low light the difference is that great. And I shoot a lot of available light so the choice was way easy to make. Plus the Group Auto Focus option on my D500 blows away the action freezing capabilities of the D300.

I use my D300s as back up to my D800. Same controls and still takes excellent shots. Its only limitation is in low light situations. Anything above ISO 800 you need serious noise reduction in post.

Just purchased a refurbished D300 from B&H...7000 actuations..beautiful condition...had an old D300 that was in need of too many repairs...gave it up to a company that refurbished it and resold it....did not hesitate to get the new D300...put a prime on it and watch it shine...dont underestimate the ability of the D300...this great camera is going to divorce court for old age and irreconcilable differences...I'll gladly keep her...could have gotten a D500....saw no real need to do so...since in post processing photos with the D300 are more than acceptable and in fact they are excellent.

D300 is still a great camera. Too bad Nikon is no longer supporting servicing for that model. I have a friend who needed a few things serviced on his 300. He was lucky. The serviceman used a few of the last parts available to him and was told no more. He is really pissed.
