I've been reading about PULSE, the device for running your camera from a remote smart phone. Apparently you can control ISO, shutter speed and time lapse events, etc. remotely. Has anybody used this device and if so how would you rate it? I'm trying to assess if it's worth the $100+to have such a device? Do I really need another gadget? Thanks in advance. Al

If you can't answer that question why would you think a stranger can do better? Geesus. There needs to be a forum on this site for all time dumb questions.

You need an attitude adjustment my friend. You act like you fell out of a tree.

Jim, I don't think that he asked a dumb question. Fellow members ask this kind of questions all the time and no one showed his/her attitude ever. However, for sure it raises questions about your attitude. My friend may be at the time you replied his question, were not in a good mood. We all members at UHH are like a family and we should respect each other. Sorry if my explanation offend you.

Most newer cameras have wifi built in that does all that (and sometimes more, depending on the brand camera). Maybe this is an opportunity to give into GAS and buy a new body ;-)

Oh and as to JimBob you'd be better off ignoring everything he says... Or simply responding to him as I have in the past...

Is it something you have thought about before reading about it? You always wanted a camera mounted up in a tree for a couple of days to photograph a nest of birds but could never do it? Now you can.
If it fills a need you have then its worth considering.

Not a good answer, but it got laugh out loud funny as I thought about it. Also, I'm sure that I could contribute to a dumb question forum!

To the others: lighten up and enjoy a little humor!

I have the Pulse.

Finally got it after 7 months on order.

Mine had issues and they did work with me and finally sent a new cable which is what I suspected from the beginning.

It still has a few issues with disconnecting and connecting, but I have learned the steps to connect it again.

It is a nifty little device though I have not had the time to work with it.

You can't use live view with it connected so if you use live view to focus, etc you would need to connect it after .

The thumbnail shows well and you get a histogram.

You cannot enlarge the thumbnail.

One can control the ISO, aperture, shutter. Everything has to be in manual and you have to manually focus. I suppose you could use autofocus, focus and turn it off.

Battery life on the device seems very good. I plan on trying to use it over the Christmas holidays just to see what it does and if it stay connected.

No question is dumb but some of the respondents are just plain nasty.

Why aren't the most consistent nasty members removed or given warning and placed on probation? They add nothing but wasted space and bad feeling.

I have a Pluse, remote adjustments are nice, I have had it for several months.

Great in cold weather, the camera stays out in the cold, and I adjust and view it from the inside..

Great for squirrels and bird pictures also...

Even events, and the remote never gets lost...

For $100? I think it will be a novelty that wears off fast. As someone else has stated, many of the newer camera bodies come with WiFi and can be operated by a smart phone app.

The real advantage is the camera settings can be modified, and the pictures can be viewed on my iPhone,

At dinners I can take pictures, and even take pictures setting in my vehicle, that have accessories that can also pan the unit,

Nice to set it and forget it, when doing a sunset or a sun rise...and not have to ge there..

Just another cool tool,

Nasty replies, such as above, belong in the trash and not in this forum.
