Personally I am about 17 miles from the most southern point in NYS.

Chittenango Falls is beautiful even in winter. If you have time check out Letchworth State Park aka Grand Canyon of the East. Couple winters ago I got some amazing shots, and as a bonus, there was hardly anyone there. My son and his wife live in Willow Springs NC. Beautiful area, and not all this snow.
